Updated Character Familiar
Hey folks link below is to my C&C Character Familiar. This is an Excel 2007 spreadsheet that automates 80% of the character creation process and sheet fill in. Includes all races and classes from the PHB, ABP, and my own stuff. Make sure to read the instructions page before using. Takes about 5 minu...

RIP John Wright
Per Mona Wright on Facebook (the full notice is on her page) this morning; John (Seskis 281) passed away in the early hours due to a massive blood clot induced heart attack. We've lost a great DM, a great conversationalist on gaming, a great educator and theatrical producer, and an all around parago...

Got no problem with changes here.
Agree; Discord is only useful when people are actually talking there, which most of the time no one was before I gave up on it.

Re: How to cure an Undead
Funny you mention that Serl. I just ran across a manga yesterday where the Hero is killed by a curse from the Demon Lord. Rather, not so much killed as cursed with undead status so he is effectively a zombie (which makes touching his holy avenger, saintess fiance, and dealing with healing/holy magic...

Re: How to cure an Undead
Raise Dead cast upon an undead destroys them instantly per the book.
Resurrect if you want them back in the same body. Reincarnation if just wanting them back to life in some manner.
Wish and Alter Reality could also be used but with far more risk to the caster.

Re: Most hated (by the book) monster
Giants. All of the myths, legends, stories, art books, etc. speak of fantastically tall creatures that are capable of wrestling dragons to submission, stepping over several houses in a single stride, and towering above even the tips of ancient redwood trees. So large that when they sleep they are mi...

Re: Burning Oil AND Quicksand
If it's Naptha or a light oil (which will float on the quicksand and burn) all it will need is an ignition source. magnesium dust floating on oil will also make a nice little firebomb in a container (which if is clay embedded with sharp metal bits, makes a poor man's grenade). The pit and oil from a...

Re: Question / Discussion about Delay Poison
The original intent of the spell from wAAAAaaay back when, was to delay the onset of the damage and status debuffs (to use a term) hopefully allowing the poisoned person(s) to reach help or apply treatment. Not actually nullify the damage and debuffs in and of itself, all of which would have hit aft...

Re: Question / Discussion about Delay Poison
Only experience I have with it is under 2e AD&D rules. However, as I read the above description; the poison air damage between the time of initial exposure and the Delay Poison imbibing would be waiting to slam the PC. Any exposure after that, since it states that the poison does not affect the one ...

Re: Magic Dragons
Great, so I guess for calculating XP value I need to add the value for level of spells in categories I - 1-3d level, II - 4-7 lvl, III - 8-9 lvl. Hmmm...I've always just used the highest value for spells used. So if it can use 8th level spells add a single cat. III xp value. Though I admit it could...

Re: Magic Dragons
The easiest and fastest way would be to simply grant the Dragon in question the ability to cast spells as a "casting class" of equal level to their HD; or if that is too much, 1/2 of their HD; and restrict them from using spells opposing their primary element. (ie. A Red (fire) can't use ice/water s...

Though it does note that Undead are *immune* to stun, paralysis, disease, mind affecting, and a host of other status conditions per the M&T. Also, doesn't touching undead with a holy symbol inflicts damage as if it were holy water in most cases which would automatically break the stun since it provi...

Re: Swarm attacks
I've used a similar system for some time for swarms (6 or more) of tiny (1-ft >) and small creatures (1'-2') though I use a +1 per 4 (tiny) and +1 per 3 (small) for to hit and damage. It's not as bad as it sounds in effect. If the swarm rolls a crit, then apply the choking or gouging effect...or eve...

Re: Finesse weapons
Define a light weapon. Most weapons rely on strength to take advantage of the weapons weight or to get through armor/scales/hide, etc. About the only ones I can think of that wouldn't necessarily do so would be such weapons as the rapier and daggers that rely more on accuracy to pierce the weak spot...

Re: How do you handle multiclass?
I generally just use it as written on the rare occasion that it even comes up. I don't disallow multi-class but on the same note, I don't really encourage it either. Especially given how many extra classes I have with my home rules stuff.

Re: C&C Character Familiar v2.1
My Warlocke is different from the typical Warlock class in that it isn't a magic user but more of a magic reinforced swordsman. They use the little magic they can touch to reinforce the body and their weapons/armor for the most part rather than doing the whole pact thing with extraplanar for power.

Re: Adventurers Backpack - Warrior Priest Question
The book states they can "cure wounds each day". I would take that to infer a one time per day use. Especially since they are unable to use healing spells of any type.
