Re: Increasing Challenge for Shadows of Halfling Hall

1969 was a great year for the birth of Game Masters ! This is by far one of my top ten modules of all time. When I worked it into my Ravenloft campaign (prior to the mist snatchin up my pc's) the fighter was fifth level and one of our jesters was fourth level. This took several sessions to complete,...

It was that way here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas where I live. Until my friend Rob and I started a C&C revlotuion in the north Dallas area. Now we have C&C games all oover the dallas area and both of us have no problem filling our tables. We started this revolution on the rpg "Meet Up" si...

Thank you for the link. I will begin making arrangements with my group this weekend. We will be running a Castles and Crusades table at the 2016 North Texas RPG Con. I am not one of the Troll Lords but I have been running C&C for almost a decade now and my current campaign has been going for three y...

Re: The Venture into RavenLoft: C&C Style

Coming up on my three year anniversary of this campaign in December ! We took some time off from it for a few months to play Call of Cthulhu 1920's (great system) and got back into our C&C Ravenloft game. It is still my groups favorite system to play. Our group has decided to get a table and run som...

Re: Resurrection question

I like how the 2ed Legend and Lore book had given clerics spell access based upon the spheres of influence a deity had.

Not all gods gave a cleric access to the necromancy sphere. Those clerics couldn't pray for raise dead or resurrection spells.

On what other forum's do you get positive, constructive input from the people who create the system and its materials. More importantly, value your input and voice on new material coming out. Even when people disagree with something , you are treated with respect on these forums. Respect, a concept ...

Re: Penalty for Breaking Alignment.

I already have twists of fate coming in the near future for the characters. I was not going to be a tyrant CK and make the game not fun for characters, since there are already things in motion as a consequence to their actions. I was curious as to how C&C ruled on such matters as there was no topics...

I do like this simplified approach, it does make this situation easier.

Makes sense with C&C game structure, being light on rules as it is.

Re: Penalty for Breaking Alignment.

Really ? Alignment has been that simplified in C&C ? In older additions of ad&d penalties were harsh, resulting in higher XP to attain next levels, loss of certain class abilities, etc... , regardless of divine relation to the class itself. I am similar when it comes to alignments in most cases. I d...

Penalty for Breaking Alignment.

Normally when I am CK'n in recent years I am not concerned with my players even picking an alignment. I rather go by how a character has chosen to play off his character and stays within his character. With certain exception: paladin, character worshiping a certain deity , etc.. BUT as of late deiti...

Re: Charm vs. Sword dominance

In the 1ed module S2 White Plume Mountain ,(which is one of the best modules ever made) the was a sword by the name of Blackrazor. Maybe some of the oldschooler DM's remember it. It was very easy to have the sword dominate it wielder if the character wasn't evil and on top of feeding the sword. Blac...

Re: Turning the Paladin

. I like your point of view, but a 20th level Paladin turns undead better than a 5th level evil cleric. A 5th level cleric wouldn't have a chance of turning a 25th level Paladin without some exceptional role-playing the turning and a very generous siege bonus/difficultly rating from the CK. But in ...

Shadows of The Halfling Hall

One of the best beginner/low level modules ever created.

It will challenge your characters if many ways and has a tight storyline.

I highly recommend it !

That is a great thing to hear. I suspect being in a larger metro area like Dallas helps significantly with locating players, though. You would think that ! I played 1ed for my first year of solid gaming when I moved to Texas and it took me eight months to find that group of four to start it. This w...

Re: Question on Magic Items Bonuses

In 1ed AD&D, bracer were not a bonus to ac but rather gave you a base ac. Bracers of Defense could not be used with armor as it gave you a base ac. IE: bracers of defense ac 5, would give you a base ac of five (15 in C&C) As for bonus' stacking, I haven't found a ruling in C&C yet (i also don't have...

Granted assassin within the circles that I play are more 1ed assassin based than C&C. Assassin and Ninja's (first edition) might be my favorite classes of all time.
