Re: He slammed C&C.
All I can do is shake my head. Ending slavery was a moral crusade. Getting women the right to vote was a crusade. Innumerable very noble and laudable happenings throughout history have come from personal, moral or civic crusades. If you choose to only focus on the negative aspects of a single word a...

WhosYerCon (Mar 31-Apr 2)
(Crossposted from the KotC forum!) Hey, all! I'll be running (most likely) two sessions of C&C at this Midwest (Indianapolis) Con, possibly more! I've done it three of the last four years and had a blast every time. Further details about WhosYerCon can be found at the WhosYerGamers site, http://...

Gen Con 2016 Retrospective
Those of you who might not realize, Gen Con is a local con for me (Indianapolis, born and bred), so it’s an absolute natch that this is my favorite con… the sheer amount of people is always astounding, as is the sheer amount of available games and fun-- and while we can never stay and enjoy it all (...

Re: Who's Yer Con 2016, Indianapolis IN
I'm going to have to try to get over there next year..this year it just wasn't in the books for me. GenCon seems way too crowded these days, sadly. No real excuse since I'm less than an hour away from the Con, and having recently found C&C, it's re-sparked the old-school gamer in me. You really...

Honestly, on top of the color, I think the pages are more sturdy, myself. Either way, I really like the color books.

Any chance this will be available by Gen Con? (I ask because I'm already looking to put back money)

Re: Sample Scoring system for C&CS/KOTC Convention Games
That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea at all, and I really do like the idea of awarding good role play and teamwork as well as simple strategy. There's a part of me me that almost thinks we should offer the players a chance to rate the CK so that he or she might realize areas for improvement, ...

Re: Who's Yer Con 2016, Indianapolis IN
Day Two was, if possible, an even bigger success than Day One! I ran the Missing Ring scenario again, for a new group of players that had everywhere from passing to good familiarity with various editions of D&D, and everyone really had a blast! A couple things that really made the session great ...

miller, My bad on not being more clear there-- I was giving Treebore a heads up because the adventure I ran is one that I've submitted to him for the Domesday book, and I noticed a pretty sizable error in it that I need to fix up. But I'm glad to help out the Society wherever I can! More details nex...

Day one was an astounding success! I ran the Missing Ring short I prepared for Domesday to a group that was mostly new to the game, and they all really enjoyed it! Some of them may be back tomorrow at my next session, if I have open seats! BTW, Treebore, I totally noticed a immense foul up on my par...

Re: TLG Portal
Honestly, I think it's a great idea, and it's very forward thinking, especially for people who might run at cons and don't want to lug around a backpack full of books. It might really benefit the people who pick up the 5E conversions (stereotypically, later versions of the game seem to draw people w...

Re: Best Castles & Crusades adventure presentation
Another vote for Heart of Glass, although admittedly, I like that one because of the cross of adventure and gazetteer. I tend to like adventures that offer more to the CK than just an adventure, one reason that despite my dislike for the heavy crunch of PF/3.5, I will admit that I shamelessly love t...

Re: So Steve sucks at promoting TLG ...
Hm. Maybe give other, more "flair"-inclined sorts the reins and let them run wild! I've never had any major issues telling people that C&C is my mainstay tabletop game, and that it does everything I want in a FRPG without having the overwhelming rules bloat that consume other systems f...

It's OH-fficial! I will be running two four-hour sessions (Friday and Saturday evening) at Who'sYerCon this year and talking up C&C much as I do every year I attend. WYC is a smallish, but definitely growing, gaming con in Indianapolis, IN... and perhaps more importantly, it is free to attend!

1) Tome of the Unclean. Like everyone else, I think this one actually hits me nicely in the sweet spot, but I could very well see you wanting to tie this in with a potential Planescape book, too. 2) Adventurers Backpack. This one is one I would really be looking most forward to. I love the rules ba...

I'm honestly not sure about why the reach for 5E from the Trolls, myself, simply because I honestly believe they already have a better system, themselves. But I guess I can understand that they're not really creating new content, just retrofitting existing works they've already made to fit the 5E mo...

Re: How'd you get into Castles & Crusades?
Got called over to the TLG table at the Marketplace in GenCon '09 or '10, and was given a quick spiel about how the game was played and how simple the SIEGE mechanic was... and as a 3.5 GM who wanted to get back to the sort of narrative gaming I enjoyed, the Trolls might well have been holding up a ...

Re: No Country for Weak Men - new free C&C adventure availab
So we need to sign into the actual KotC site to get the adventure PDF? Yes, the Knight level of the Knights of the Crusade site. Apparently, that's the only "legal" way to publish your home made C&C stuff. I would prefer to publish it on DTRPG (and Lulu for print) as I do with my Swor...

Re: Pathfinder After C&C
I'm in the same boat. I played (largely) a rules-light 2nd edition for a long time before I took a long hiatus and eventually made the jump to 3E/PF, and although I liked them, I felt like a lot of the role-playing was left behind in favor of mechanics and that the combat just felt bloated and so ov...

Sadly, I don't get into FLGS's as often as I should-- there aren't any real close to me, and since I buy almost all my stuff online or at the cons, I just don't get out to them-- so I'm not entirely sure that we have local dealers here. I thought I remembered seeing a C&C PHB at the Game Preserv...

Re: Nat 20s on SIEGE checks
I have not used Hero or Luck points, but may look into it for my soon-to-begin campaign. I have generally taken the route of allowing a Natural 20 to be success on anything within the realm of reasonable possibility, mostly because it makes the die rolls that much more exciting to the players, but I...
