Re: Crazy idea...

He is using a standard SIEGE check for attacks. That's why he has a CL = HD of the target. But instead of adding level like a class skill would, he adds BtH. Otherwise, a wizard would be just as good in a fight as a fighter. Hmm... I see what you're getting at, but then what is the advantage of usi...

Re: Crazy idea...

Its simple, roll d20, add BtH, fighters add specialization bonus. CL is HD of opponent, or highest HD of opponent in a mixed group that is effected by what the fighter is attempting. I'm not sure if I'm following you here. Do you mean you use HD as the target number, rather than AC, but retain the ...

Re: Crazy idea...

Do you guys have any links to your house rules? It sounds like you've already hit upon the idea I had and have figured out how to make it work. I would like to take a look at what you've got and see if I could implement it in my own game (assuming I can ever convince any of my group of Pathfinder fa...

Re: Crazy idea...

Yeah, I guess the only way to figure it out is to scrawl out the notes and do some test fights. I'm having trouble figuring out what to do with armor, though. Meh, I don't know, I'm so strapped for time these days it may be a project that I have to put on the shelf until I'm less busy. I need to ded...

Crazy idea...

So, I've been using C&C as my system of choice since about 2006. I love the SIEGE system. I am also particularly enamored of the 12/15/18 Tertiary attribute option on page 231 of the Castle Keepers guide. I like that it adds a bit more granularity without complicating things too much. So it occurred...

Amazing Engine (hated it) Conan the Barbarian (loved it) B/X (loved it) BECMI (liked it- not as much as plain old B/X- just because I never played much above 14th lvl) Rule Cyclopedia (Cool for having everything between two covers) AD&D (loved it) AD&D 2e (loved some things better than AD&D but like...

Re: Crusader versus Domesday Book

I love to read gaming blogs and there are precious few of those devoted to C&C- my favorite FRPG. I might also like to submit some material for submission. It would let me scratch that C&C itch, as I've had to start a Pathfinder game to get my RPG fix; no one in my neck of the woods seems to be inte...

Re: St. Louis Players of C&C

I feel your pain, my friend. I recently moved to Independence, just outside of Kansas City, and have had very little luck finding people interested in trying the game. The local gamer culture seems entrenched in 3.5 and Pathfinder. I am loathe to admit it, but if I ever want to run a game it looks l...

Re: Quick n' Dirty C&C Star Wars Conversion

I like the old WEG Galaxy Guides and Sourcebooks the best. My favorites, in order of preference would be: 1) Galaxy Guide 6: Tramp Freighters 2) Han Solo and the Corporate Sector Sourcebook 3) The Darkstryder Campaign I also like the following, for little set-piece locations you can drop into your c...

Re: Quick n' Dirty C&C Star Wars Conversion

What about weapon Jamming, just in your personal opinion, is that something that you would primarily only use for a extreme cases like a natural 1? It seems reasonable to me that blasters might have a chance of overheating. You could simulate this by rolling 1d3; the weapon is inoperable until it h...

Re: Quick n' Dirty C&C Star Wars Conversion

Cool 8-) My main concern, when working up the rules, was primarily ease of play (which is what I love most about C&C) and making something that would evoke the feel of the movies. I also wanted ammo rules and armor degradation, but I didn't want it to be a tedious process of ticking off every shot f...

Re: Quick n' Dirty C&C Star Wars Conversion

Good to see some folks may get some use out of this. :) The sources I drew on were my old WEG sourcebooks (for ideas and terminology mostly), WotC Saga edition and Wookiepedia. Since C&C has a lot of d20 influence, it obviously drew a lot of inspiration for mechanics from that. As far as force power...

Quick n' Dirty C&C Star Wars Conversion

Here's a word document with some house rules I worked up to run a Star Wars game, C&C style. It's a little rough around the edges, but I thought someone might get some use out of it. I also included a hand drawn character sheet. A word of warning: None of this has been play tested yet, so I can't sp...

I looked around on the boards, but couldn't find any rules on uploading documents for homebrew materials. I've got a quick n' dirty star wars conversion of C&C, along with a hand drawn character sheet I might like to share as a word document (assuming anyone is interested) but wasn't sure if that wa...

Thanks in advance, to anyone who...

Re: House Rules (Starting a new C&C campaign)

Castles & Crusades accomodates house rules exceptionally well (better than any other game system, in my opinion- and I've played a lot of them in my 30 or so years in the hobby). These days I try to keep house rules to a minimum in my games, but do I have a few I like to use. Most of them revolve ar...

I saw this post in the comment box on the website: Yeast can not only flocculate (adhere to each other and grow in clumps), but also grow as pseudohyphae under nitrogen starvation, which is also multicelleluar-like. So the blueprint for multicellularity is already present. I haven't researched it ye...

Re: WOW! Multicellular Life Evolves in Laboratory - in 60 d

It's an interesting study, but I would hesitate to aknowledge it as proof that single-celled organisms evolve into multi-cellular organisms in a natural environment. Several red flags wave vigorously, just from comments made by the scientists within the article, itself. Consider the following... Rat...

No need to apologize for standing by your design philosophy, sir. As I said, it's a good game, just not what I was looking for. I wanted something more along the lines of, as you put it, "castles & crusades in space". But hey, I can't complain- I got the rules for free. Still, this is interesting......
