Re: Please help me choose an introductory adventure.

I would combine Keep on the Borderlands with Assault on Blacktooth Ridge. Between teh two plenty of little caves to explore along with a nice little base of operations to get started with, and then its easy to expand as needed from there. As for setting, I don't see how you could go wrong with WL o...

A0 Map Scale vs Aihrde Map Scale Question

I am preparing my first C&C game, and I'm using the Umbrage Saga. I am a little confused about the map scale. I have the beautiful Aihrde poster maps, which list a 1 inch = 24 mile scale. The "Malforten to Botkinburg" map from the set shows a scale of 3/8 inch = 10 miles, which works out to be 1 inc...

Please help me choose an introductory adventure.

Fellow RPG enthusiasts, I am suffering from the "paradox of choice," and I seek to enlist your aid in helping me make a decision on which adventure to run. In a couple weeks, I will be introducing four of my nephews to tabletop RPGs. They are ages 11-15. We will be playing every couple of weeks over...

Re: Any Forgotten Realms experts out there?

Thanks for your help. I found these 2 blog posts, which were helpful. http://poleandrope.blogspot.com/2009/06/undeveloped-realms.html http://poleandrope.blogspot.com/2009/06/time-of-troubles.html So far from my research it looks like the 1e campaign setting, FR1-6 (minus FR4 "The Magister"), and N5 ...

Re: Easier to convert Swords & Wizardry or Pathfinder to C&C

Thank you everyone for the help. I just started posting on and checking these forums regularly, and am about to start my first C&C campaign, and everyone has been really helpful and friendly. I ended up getting the Swords & Wizardry versions of Hexcrawl Chronicles and the Northlands Saga, and they a...

Any Forgotten Realms experts out there?

I grew up GMing AD&D 2e and later D&D 3 in the Forgotten Realms. Then one day, I began reading the original Conan stories by Robert E. Howard. I was greatly inspired by them, and I realized I vastly preferred Sword & Sorcery over High Fantasy. I was put off by the overabundance of magic, meta-plot, ...

Easier to convert Swords & Wizardry or Pathfinder to C&C?

Troll friends... I am just getting into Castles & Crusades. I'm very interested in Frog God Games products, in particular Hex Crawl Chronicles and the Northlands Saga. They offer both products in a Swords & Wizardry version as well as a Pathfinder version, and I'm trying to decided which version to ...

Re: New to C&C and Looking for Campaign Advice

Thanks again everyone for the recommendations. I decided to get Jack of Lies, DB1-6, C1-2, and The Umbrage Saga. I already have the Aihrde folio PDF. I hope to figure out how to use as much of it together as I can. Oh, and woohoo! I'm beyond excited!!! Run for your lives PCs!!! Mwahahahaha!!! Which...

Re: New to C&C and Looking for Campaign Advice

Thanks for the suggestions. I am intrigued by the Haunted Highland series, but my main concern is that I read somewhere the adventures are pretty dark/mature and we are playing with a 9 year old. Is there any truth to these adventures having a dark theme, and if so is it prevalent enough that toning...

New to C&C and Looking for Campaign Advice

After seeing a video of Davis getting hit in the head with a Dr. Pepper box, I've decided to buy a bunch of stuff from Troll Lord games so he can get a shield or something to more properly defend himself from the abuse he is being subjected to. Only problem is that Stephen will get my money too and ...
