Re: A question...
People wear their rubber wristbands to project the right image and the right "causes." For most of these people, the cause is less important than the ability to look "concerned" to their social group and to pat themselves on the back for a superficial gesture. I see WOTC's approach in exactly the s...

Re: 15 minutes on wotc forums = I want to watch the world bu
I am not going to lie.. I am really nosy about what Fiff and Bradly could have been arguing about. I do not remember any of it. I do recall lord Dynal(sp) and I disagreeing on the best way to use seige or the introduction of skills into C&C. I play with thief skills from AD&D2e in my game. I remembe...

Re: A question...
Get this: if an entity is truly inclusive, they don't need to spell that out. The fact that they are spelling it out, and ONLY for a certain demographic, means that they want attention drawn to the statement. I don't think you can deduce any positive connotations from that. To point something out a...

Re: 15 minutes on wotc forums = I want to watch the world bu
Just one final thought - What I said wasn't "rubbish" and it wasn't "passive-aggressive." I got into more than my share of political arguments with none other than Mr. Peter Bradley on various incarnations of TLG forums. Then I realized that this isn't the place for that, and that it drives people ...

Damn man that sucks. I remember a few years back you had some pretty serious health issue going on as well or maybe that was your wife... either way I hope you get better soon. I recently got retired out of the fire service after a incident at a high angle rescue. ruptured a few disks in my c-spine ...

Re: Great resource for C&C...
Yeah, the best way I can think to describe it, and you would have to be a loooong time gamer to even understand my description, is a stripped down conglomeration of the best parts of 1E AD&D, the Rules Cyclopedia, and the Moldvay boxed set. Leaning most strongly towards the Moldvay boxed set. Plus,...

Re: Would 2e AD&D kits work for C&C?
Shouldn't be that big of a issue to convert AD&D 2e kits. I use all of my AD&D books in my C&C campaigns with no issues at all more or less.

Re: Great resource for C&C...
I picked a few of the basic book up last year to hand out for Christmas gifts. Can not beat the price, i think it was like 3.99 for the book. Cost me more than that just to get my AD&D/C&C house rules printed and spiral bound at staples. Some of the adventures are pretty good. I was surprised at how...

Re: 15 minutes on wotc forums = I want to watch the world bu
I have been a part of these forums for seven years myself and have no desire to compromise with people who believe Gary Gygax was a sexist, racist, bad guy and that role playing needs more social justice. My commentary was on how the wotc boards have been over run with that exact type of person and ...

Re: 15 minutes on wotc forums = I want to watch the world bu
Political statement or not... I think the point is that this forum is not the place to talk about the topic. We have the ability to be a community that chooses NOT to get bogged down in the crap that you are talking about. Let the other game company forums deal with that while we spend our time mak...

Re: 15 minutes on wotc forums = I want to watch the world bu
Thanks. We all would like to think that we're refined or educated, and that we've some sort of evolved consciousness that allows us to understand the Way Things Must Be, while everyone else is the Other that can't possibly have a point or two now and then. The sad part is that so many don't underst...

Re: 15 minutes on wotc forums = I want to watch the world bu
The WOTC forums have always been a pit of whiny PC-ness. I remember 3e discussions where the Ranger's favored enemy ability was racists, that Dungeon Master was a sexist term and that Orcs and other sentient humanoids should never be evil. (Actual terms used) According to Tolkien, orcs are elves tw...

Re: 15 minutes on wotc forums = I want to watch the world bu
While I can agree that the name drow is a real world mythological creature it is a fact that drow as Gygax wrote them in D3 are absolutely a unique creation of the Gygax and do not resemble any real world equivalents. Maybe i have been living a sheltered life, had no idea drow were such a contentiou...

Re: 15 minutes on wotc forums = I want to watch the world bu
Maybe. I had never heard anyone accuse Gygax of racism based on the skin color of the drow before... I admit it was a bit unsettling. I do not know if I hate all of these people claiming D&D is racist or sexist or both but I admit to not understanding them at all. I have played a lot of D&D with a l...

15 minutes on wotc forums = I want to watch the world burn
Between accusations that drow were made black skinned and matriarchal for racist and sexist reasons and what not I really really think a massive meteorite hitting the earth may be a good idea. When did D&D become over run by people who actively hate Gygax and everything he ever wrote? Maybe this is ...
