Re: What roleplaying products did you get for X-mass?

Being reliant on mail order all of my swag arrived either before or after Xmas, but it was definitely seasonal shopping: 1) D&D 5E PHB, MM and DMG 2) Moldvay Basic D&D boxed set 3) Cook/Marsh Expert D&D boxed set 4) Worlds of Wonder boxed set Actually, I'm still waiting for 2) and 3). Oh, and I got ...

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion

Right, I just noticed it's not an official thing by WotC (although I realised from the price that is was at-cost). That makes more sense. Still, I see the PDF as more of a teaser than a fully functional book so there'd be limited utility in having it in book form for me. Probably fine for running a ...

Re: Do you allow the Assassin as a player character class?

Absolutely, although I don't dictate alignment for it. Assassins were about the only thing I liked about AD&D when I was playing B/X back in the day.

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion

I don't think I'd buy the Lulu print of the Players D&D Basic Rules *, even stripped down as the PDF is there's still too much fluff in there for a really "basic" book. I assume the difference between the "full colour" and B&W versions is the same as the PDFs, i.e. the colour version has beige inter...

Reminds me of the old Chaosium RuneQuest 2 rule for magic crystals. Nice touch, I thought.

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion

I also still did not like the one real video-gamey mechanic of healing, both as inherent "powers" and pretty much "rest briefly and regain most or all HPs". I too don't like the healing munchkinism (VERY un-D&D). I can see where they're coming from, in a meta-gaming way - without that clerics are o...

Re: How do you feel about this?

Lindybeige is very entertaining if somewhat over-certain of the absolute truth of his own opinions. I did hold the same view as he regarding RuneQuest vs. D&D for several decades, but I see games systems in a less righteously outraged light these days.

Re: Blueholme: Prentice Rules

Blimey. Took me almost two years since seeing this post, but I finally managed to hit on a user name / email combination that let me register! Anyway, thanks, Redwulf! Print-on-demand is just around the corner.
