Re: Your FAVOURITE fantasy novel or series o' novels...

It always has to go back to the first one, The Hobbit. (Special thanks to my 8th grade English teacher that gave me her personal copy of the Lord of the Rings to read over the summer!)

More recently, the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson.

Also, the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss.

Re: What other RPG's would you guys actually like to play?

I play in a regular D&D game, but the GM is now turning it into a CK as he is co-opting a lot of the C&C rules to his game world. I also play in a semi-regular Cthulhu game, but those are usually one off's and not a campaign. I'd love to play in a Top Secret style game or an Aces & Eights/Boot Hill ...

It used to be all sorts of candy, chips, and other snacks, but as we"ve gotten older and rounder, we're moving to healthier fare. Which sucks.

Re: The worst gaming experience you've had.

I had a horrible experience that almost made me quit. I was DMing 2nd Ed for my cousin/best friend, my girlfriend now wife, a guy who got us into gaming, his second wife, his 10 year old stepson, and a friend of their's. The party had been attacked by some thieves and they had used hit and run tact...

Re: How'd you get into Castles & Crusades?

I can't remember where I read it, but I read something about Gary Gygax being involved with the Trolls, so I started doing some investigating and found C&C. I'd been looking for a game to run and the straight forward rules appealed to me. Still haven't run that game yet, but I'm getting close.

Re: The worst gaming experience you've had.

Played in a game back in law school (with two people I still game with 25 years later) where the DM allowed one player to play an evil character despite the fact that everyone else was playing "good" characters. Although he was nominally an adult, the player proceeded to run roughshod over the town ...

Trystan, a 14th level originally chaotic good fighter that became a "called" paladin around 11th level. We just finished a campaign that started in 2008 and are putting our "high powered" party aside to start some new characters in another part of the same campaign world.

I just had a couple friends and our boys roll up characters to take a crack at Rising Knight, this being the first time I've ever GM'd a game. I've been trying to figure out how big Malforten is in terms of population. I don't think it's in there...anyone have any ideas?

I'm happy the Mets won, but Cubs fans seemed to be very classy. I guess they recognize kindred suffering spirits in Mets fans! :D

But the team is full of excellent young players. Pick up a pitcher or two and next year could be your, Rhu!

Mets fan here. Although up 2-0 is an enviable position, I recall a Mets team being down 2-0 to the Red Sox in 1986 before winning in 7 games.

I'm certainly not counting out the Cubs and that amazing lineup.

May the best team win!

Thanks, Rigon. Read your house rules, which I like very much. How do you deal with spell memorization? I was never a huge fan of a Mage/cleric being able to only memorize certain spells from their spell book every day. My current DM uses a spell point system allowing casters to use any spells they h...
