Are you familiar with the Suncoast Gamers group? I know a couple of those guys and they are in the Tampa Bay area. I've played AD&D and C&C with them before.

I would use the cash to buy a couple extra copies of the PHB for your players to use during the game and a CK screen. Use the rest of the money to buy out of print FR source material.

I've got to agree with Traveller on this. It's a brand and image issue. The aggressive ads make the company look cheap. Perception is reality. You expect to see ads like that on a fan site run by amateurs.

The key with this forum is that the participants don't run their games like a Miller-Urey experiment, so canon doesn't pervade every conversation and you can actually exchange new ideas.

Everything sounds awesome so far! The only comment I have is that the eclectic races fit right in for the city state... considering you can encounter trolls just walking down the street in the middle of the day.
