Re: Resources Then & Now (SRD 5.1)
I think you could do the same thing with the CC license, but depending on what is used, it might be tested legally. Wizards put less in because they want to trip up anyone who uses the CC version and not their OGL version, where they have more control. If not careful, someone could cross one of thos...

So Fiffergrund, are you just performing thread resurrections to up your post count, or are you just a chaotic-neutral troublemaker? :) Oh definitely the latter, but my alignment changes with my mood. I'm just reminiscing, that's all. Most of the threads should stay exactly where they are...but some...

Ah, good times. It's really hard to believe it was as long ago as that. I think it was Blue Rose.
I still have my playtest drafts, all marked up. That first draft was a barely disguised 1E

Re: Unified XP chart
The classes are balanced for their individual XP charts. With a unified chart, you may find little bits of weirdness. I can't think of an example off the top of my head, but I know Davis calculated those charts based on class abilities and who-knows-what-else. There's a healthy nostalgia component i...

Fancy summarising the points for & against made so far!? :) Well, I might be able to layer some additional nuance on it, too. I remember this like it was yesterday.... [DREAM SEQUENCE] It helps to consider what was going on during the infancy of C&C. It was just a bunch of ideas at that poi...

Re: A VTT for C&C: FG SmiteWorks, Forge or wait for Foundry?
I have used Roll20 in the past but I'm considering an "upgrade" to a better supported and more reliable platform. The problem I have is that I don't want to have a separate VTT for each game I want to play (I will play C&C, Free League stuff like Tales from the Loop, Conan 2d20, CoC BR...

Re: module with pre-rolled characters or a list of characters & stats ?
Is this to just spot check to see if you're in the right ballpark with something, or do you need some pre-gens for a game?
One of the modules published later on may have pre-rolled characters, but the early ones didn't as space was at a premium. 24 pages max!
Maybe check out the NPC Almanac?

Re: Free Guide for converting 5th Ed to C&C
In many cases, skills in 5e need to map to class abilities in C&C I think some care has to go into this, and a nice conversation with players to set proper expectations. I think the word "need" in your premise should be considered carefully, because a lot of C&C players would ask ...

Re: New but also returning (AKA Converting early D&D modules to C&C)
This is all good to know, I'm glad that my older modules and materials are usable. As for old modules, I have always changed thing around; moving secret doors, changing treasures, rerolling monster's hit points. I've had players who know what's in modules and go in looking for a specific +2 sword b...

Yeah, you can use it *all* most likely. That was one of the core principles behind C&C when it was made, and a whole lot of us were quasi-fanatic about it.

Re: New but also returning
Hey Alden, welcome back. I just got back from a pair of long breaks myself. The answer is: ridiculously easy. Two main things need to be adjusted, and they can be done on the fly in most cases. 1. Ascending AC. Same scale, it just goes upward from 10 instead of downward. 2. CRs would need to be dete...

I used to play Toon quite a bit - that game is one of the best tension relievers there is. If you want to just forget about everything else for a while, that'll do.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Lots of people here have seen and done it all, or at least fairly close to it.
