Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion
Death in D&D is awfully hard to do (fail three death saving throws before you win three death saving throws) Which is basically a 50/50 chance. A nat 20 brings you automatically back to 1hp and a nat 1 gives you 2 failed saves, so it's actually about 49.5% that you'll die, 50.5% that you'll sur...

My character in Steve's game is a Dwarf Paladin and he is awesome and if you don't like it you can stick your hand in a wood shredder.

God I despise that show. Glad they gave props to Gary. Still doesn't excuse the absolute horribleness of the show, though.

I've always thought sahuagin were awesome. Orcs, goblins, gnolls, are evil as a byproduct. They are crude, selfish, mean, savage beasts that don't care about anything or anybody, ergo evil. Sahuagin are really, really evil. Like, they actively worship devils. They watch slaves get eaten by sharks fo...

The first Conan. It veered from Howard's telling, considerably in some ways, and that has always bugged me. But the story was true to the feel of Hyboria, so I'll go with that. Honorable mention: The Sword & The Sorcery is just fantastic. Willow is a great film. Dragonslayer . Beastmaster . Krul...

Yeah, you are using an old link Revfan. We sometimes like to link to a page with dead links for funsies. Use the one boring old DMSamuel posted if you want to actually leap right to the store front.

If you read my article in the last Crusader mag, you'll recall my take on HP. In short, a lvl 1 Fighter can be killed by a single sword blow from a goblin because he is green and doesn't know combat. The same exact blow from a goblin on a lvl 10 fighter (and does the same exact 8hp of damage) is tu...

I have no problems with Clerics being "heal bots", its what they were created for in the first place. Boy, I couldn't disagree with this enough. When we first played AD&D back in 83, my dad played a Cleric. He is (was) a minister in real life and he played the hell out of a cleric. He...

For fun.
I'm a 9th level Dwarf Paladin in our game (with a 10th level Wizard in the game). Probably my favorite character and wouldn't want to play a Wizard instead of him regardless of level.

Re: Paladin, detect evil – invisible ?
However, today I was thinking .... would it also work under darkness .... normal &/or magical ???? My gut is no, I don't see why it wouldn't. Heck, invisibility and darkness are really close, you just can't see them. Again, if they smelled bad or made noises, darkness would not hide that. The o...

Damage Question
In my game, a nat20 gets you double damage. A high-level Rogue gets quadruple damage from a back attack. In my last game, the Rogue (who in this scenario does triple damage at his level) gets a nat20 on his attack roll. Rolls 7 damage. Triple is 21. Double that is 42. So a fairly average damage roll...

Re: Paladin, detect evil – invisible ?
Yeah, sure it will work. Invisibility is a way to mask your physical appearance, some would even say it is an illusion that either bends light or tricks the mind. Either way, only the physical appearance is hidden, they are still there. As such, they will still 'radiate' evil (if that is the correct...
