Re: CK Protection Plan

Why are CK's protecting their players?! True, you're not to be out just to see how fast you can obliterate a party. Or maybe you are. But many I have come across are so coddling and nurturing that the characters could never get a head cold, because they are so well protected. My Rule 0 is "Have fun...

Re: Your favorite fantasy RPGs?

I really haven't played much outside of the D&D genre. So, it's definitely C&C and AD&D (1e and 2e) because those are the ones I played. I remember Earthdawn being fun the few times I played it years ago. I also am really digging Crypts & Things (a new Swords & Wizardry variant). I do like D&D 3.x,...

Re: CK Protection Plan

I think the CK/GM/DM sometimes has a story to tell...well, they always have a story to tell. But I mean a big story. And they want to tell it. It's their enjoyment in the game (akin to players playing being their enjoyment). It might be a devious dungeon, filled with puzzles and traps. Or it could ...

Re: Your favorite fantasy RPGs?

You know, I contemplated the fact that many folks would list 1st and/or 2nd ed D&D as a favorite, but I can no longer truthfully claim it myself. I tried to play AD&D a couple of years back but it was not what it used to be for me. A sad truth, I guess. I still do love me some THAC0 though (lower A...

48 and gaming since '76 now with 5 daughters age 11-21. I would like to say I have been playing C&C since first edition and gladly have plunked down dough for the Trolls. The game is fun though any game would be as our group is awesome. Fully half the reason I bother with C&C are the people involved...

while others want death and dismemberment and find role-playing a tad on the boring side I don't find death/dismemberment and roleplaying to be mutually exclusive. Roleplaying is what I love. Combat-heavy or combat-light, I'm good either way. I do, however, get very frustrated with groups that see ...

Re: Your favorite fantasy RPGs?

Currently running a home brewed C&C campaign. Love it! Used to run Fantasy Hero (champions rule system) for 20 years. Got old and crotchety and wanted less prep time. Love one shots of Barbarians of Lemuria. BoL is my favorite system for this purpose. Like the looks of, yet have not run, Adventurer-...

Re: How much is a lot in terms of gold?

Well, a 10th level knight is going to be shelling out, on average, 1,000 gp/month, that will grow by 1,000gp per month for roughtly 8 months. At that time he will, again on average, have 80-ish 0-level knights and two 1st-level knights. That alone is 8,200 gp for that month. Not counting all of the...

Re: Leveling Up

So, who thinks that treasure for dragons is just a bit over the top? I did determined mine randomly and shazam!! I think the horde multiplier makes the amounts of gold way too much for my campaign. As a guideline I would probably multiply by the number of dragons in the lair. Being able to find and...

No, the dragon was not carrying loot. They party has a friend in town who is a ranger, who assisted them in finding the lair. Re: A new generation of Crusaders

I mentioned that I ran a C&C game a while back in a previous post. Well, one of the players recently enjoyed the game enough to buy a set of C&C, a PHB, CKG, and M&T. I stopped by his house this evening for something else, and noticed he was running a game of C&C for his two kids, one 13 another 17...

How much is a lot in terms of gold?

In my campaign I don't handle leveling with experience points and so I can restrict the amount of gold I give as treasure. I keep it pretty rare. The characters are mostly 7th level and have 2-3k of gold in coin and various possessions not including magic items. They pay for training to level which ...

They have a mix, a 3rd level druid, 3rd level paladin, 2nd level rogue, 3rd level wizard, 2nd level elf (thank you Omote), and two 2nd level fighters. They had escaped pirates and were on a ship. They were unable to control the thing and ran it aground on a beach near Tegel (Wilderlands). That even...

OK, I have to ask, since I have not run the game long enough to know, but the rangers favored enemy damage...+1 PER LEVEL? Is that a bit overdone? Overpowered/excessive? Re: AC bonus of Black Dragon armor?

Naturally, to use that, you would need to reduce by 10 as well, to account for the base AC... otherwise, you're doubling it. I would probably reduce by 10 and then cut the remainder in half. Example: AC 32 dragon = (32 - 10) / 2 = 22 / 2 = 11. Base, unenchanted. That is the equivalent of plate mail...

AC bonus of Black Dragon armor?

The characters were fortunate enough to bring down a black dragon. The skin was taken with the intention of making a suit of fine armor. Has anyone encountered this before and have a play-tested idea for the AC bonus, cost, and weight of said armor? My initial thoughts are AC+6, weight of leather, 2...

Treebore has a good idea. Give the damaged CKG to people that ordered the book or at least sell them for a discount. Don't trash them that seems like an awful waste.
