Re: non-Vancian magic
I did something for a shot time how Treebore mentions above as well as coming up with rolling to cast. In the end I went back to vancian I find I actually like it as well as the flavor of it. Spell points just don't work for me I don't like spell point systems in any game I've encountered them in. I...

Does it matter if the product is good? I no little to nothing about the author but the setting seems decent.capmarvel wrote:Mentioned "Dark Albion" to friend just now...he went on minor tirade on RPGPundit. Stupid me didn't even know who Mr. Pundit was.

Re: Suprise?
If you don't roll for surprise, then barbarians don't ever get to use their +2 bonus from combat sense. Good riddance. Barbarians suck and should discouraged from existing. Strangely I normally feel the same as barbarian is a culture not a class. In this instance I think that TL got it right for my...

Re: He slammed C&C.
Getting offended over everything is the way many people are today. And if you disagree with those people then you are a narrow minded hateful bigot. These people usually won't have a thoughtful debate as their minds are already made up they just want to argue.

Re: How do you make a Playable Rogue?
Less combat more exploration. Fighting is a waste of resources the best thing is only fight if you have to. Use the Rogue thief to trick the creature away from the treasure and hide. While the monster is away the rest of the group can steal the treasure. The Rogue thief can hide as a scout and warn ...

No problem there as that is 95% of a GM/CK's job. Make it up!Aergraith wrote: Careful, I have consulted it at the table before and given a ruling and had the players point and say "He's just making it up... it's upside-down!"

Does the Black Libram pdf have more or any different information on necromancers than what's already presented in the HH players guide?

Re: Quick Question concerning Class-based NPCs
Just a suggestion: Don't use traditional class-based NPCs. It's too much work as a GM. Instead, treat every NPC like a monster, but give some of them class abilities. For example, instead of statting out a 4th level dwarf fighter, use a 4 HD dwarf that has a +4 BtH specializing in hammer for an ext...

I'll just ignore the squares I don't need them anyway. It should be easy enough to eyeball and figure out the scale of the rooms.

I've recently picked up the two books and the Darlene map. I've been working my way through the books so I hope to start up a HH game soon. Once my group has finished with my current GH game.

Castles and Crusades Outpost adventure
As I mentioned in an earlier post I've been away from C&C for a few years and I just just browsing the catalogue on drive thru and I stumbled across this adventure. Is this a C&C version of KotB? or something different? the premise and preview I read sounds intersting. Anyone here own this a...

Re: House rules how much do you use? do they change often?
I have come up with some house rules mostly around the math (setting base); Rejiggering AC/BtH/Monster CL, etc. to keep the % chance smoother and numbers lower. My Base starts at 10, and the modifier for non-prime/prime is set by level and recorded on the character sheet for the player to handle. T...

Re: House rules how much do you use? do they change often?
I know what you mean BWL, as back in the day my house rules (esp. for D&D) got pretty big. As I've gotten older, my HRs have gotten smaller. For C&C, I've got mostly the following: 1. Multiclasses as Classes: The more I've done the Save or Die podcast, the more I've grown to appreciate the ...

House rules how much do you use? do they change often?
As the topic states. I know some have their house rules linked in their signatures. But for others do you have a lot of house rules? I try to keep mine to a minimum -- no more than one page if possible, unlike when I ran ad&d back in the day I had more than one pages worth. With OD&D and C&am...

Re: Expanding Classes (C&C)
No minions. What Class Plus allows is a normal classed character that has some of the base abilities of another (previous) class. These extra abilities come at an increased experience point cost of the primary class, but the abilities of the other class never increase (always remain at 0-level). Th...

Re: Returning to C&C after a long hiatus
Welcome back! Yeah, C&C is about being your game, not a strict adherence to rules. So just modify it to be the game you want this time around. That's one thing I always do. I converted my current OD&D Greyhawk campaign to C&C and the conversion was relatively painless and straight forwa...

Returning to C&C after a long hiatus
So I'm dipping my toe into the C&C side of the pool after a long time away from C&C (stopped around 2010 and was using the 3rd print of the PHB). Mostly been running white box OD&D since. But I know some of my players tend to prefer more "advanced" so back to C&C for a bit ...

<t>I've found this on a search and have thought about using something like this:<br/> Hit Points<br/> <br/> This is based on your Constitution score. You have that many and those are the 'last line' of defense. When someone rolls a Natural 20 to hit you, the damage is applied directly to your Hit Po...
