Re: Mythos Arcanum Games Imagined

Published under the OGL, Mythos Arcanum is different from other fantasy roleplaying games in that it encourages a philosophical element. Players are encouraged to explore self reflection with their characters during the course of the game and to delve into larger philosophical arguments as a whole. ...

Re: Are RPGs Too Long?

YES! When consumers place value in certain things, that is what the designers are going to provide. It is the common mistake of more is more. I think it is a catch 22 of giving people what they want in lieu of what they need. Another thing I notice is: People purposely misinterpret the rules. Design...

Re: Halfing paladin with a bastard sword?

I like the idea of common sense when using encumbrance. As a firefighter that has actually carried 50 plus pounds up a mountainside for 16 hour plus shifts in the form of a portable water pump and initial attack gear I say whoa way no way! As a gamer that is reallly really really tired of fixating o...

Re: Started Harvestors, question on Mage hand

Don't get in the details and miss the intended feel? The Mage hand has always been designed as a low level thing that can lift keys, move small items etc.

Glad to see your running Harvesters!

Players seem to have opinions that lean torward favorable outcomes for them. Unfortunately some GMs do too. Your examples sound like reasonable judgement based on common sense rather than inconsistency with rules. I lean towards flexibility. Someone raised the question about the difficulty of openin...

Getting Players to Work Together?

I am looking for tactics in game or elements one can have in a game that would encourage active teamwork. My experience shows that well oiled machines where everyone knows their roles and niches in an adventuring party are few and far between. It is more common to have a crazy scene of everyone purs...

I have to say Omote excellent post! I could visualize in my mind what you describe. You also got me excited to experience both types! The Convention Gaming Experience

I have never attended a game convention...ever. I look at the pictures and it looks like some fun but... I can't imagine having the type of quality immersive game one could have at home. I imagine the buzz of crowds, being distracted by girls in skimpy outfits and people in other costumes and garb. ...

Re: Gamers That Don't Like People?

Its not so much the nerdism as the complete lack of any attempt at working together as a team. It seems it only takes one person to create a complete distraction but it takes the entire group to work together. It is a simple formula in my mind: Can you indulge your fantasy while contributing to a gr...

Question for Game Consumers

This was my goal when I set out to publish a frpg: To provide a game in one quality saddle stiched hardbound book that a kid of a single working mother could afford. It would then be followed up by a Campaign Guide and support material also with the same price range. I'm am now meeting the brick wal...

Re: Mutant Epoch (like Gamma World) NOW AVAILABLE!!

Indeed this is a great book! I have yet to read one word of game mechanics but I suggest this book for any post-holocaust game. The feel of grit and survival is all there but I have no idea how the rules read, or play so far. I have been too enamored just checking out art and reading random entries ...

Re: For the love of Gygax (East Corner PDF?)

This much I know. No one can, or would, offer a better deal than TLG offered. Problem is, some folks seem to have the silly idea that they can 'go it alone' these days. Not in the current state of the industry. Name recognition isn't as strong as it used to be, even Gary's. Gary certainly knew that...

Re: Gamers That Don't Like People?

I like humans so it really takes a lot for someone to make me regret socializing with them. I have always preferred labradors myself. No pretense, and once the obligatory hind sniffing is done the pecking order pretty much remains the same. Personally I think we can learn a lot from dogs. Never had...

Re: Gamers That Don't Like People?

I think mine was a dillemna between pure fantasy escapism and having to indulge that with other's fantasy escape. I never enjoyed playing army men with others. I enjoyed the black and white war movies and would want to act them out with my army men. I always had a mission and a duty for the various ...

Are you one of those that just love sitting down with people and playing a socially interactive game but you normally don't like people nor social interactions?
