As the CK in question, I can tell you my thinking was

1) it was a cool move on Mr. Joel's PC's part and

2) since magical weapons can affect incorporeal creatures like spectres, that they would also affect gaseous form.

For low levels, Idylls of the Rat King is pretty good, so is Dragonfiend Pact. I've run them with C&C and they were solid crawls.

I just spent my gaming "allowance" on Towers of Adventure. Maybe I get a few of these before 12/31 though. Like Aladar, I am interested in Known Realms and Whiterock.

So in M&T 2nd print, it says the Efreet gets 1 Scorching Ray per day. The problem is that there is no such spell in the PHB (3rd print).

Argh!

Disney used to sell this at EPCOT Norway ("The Puffin's Roost") it turns out, but they are all out and no plans to get more.

IMC, I simply ruled that it has to be a 1H melee weapon of EV3 or less. Which -by my house rules' weapon chart- includes Club, Dagger, Hatchet, Cestus, Shortsword, Mace, Axe, & Short Spear.
