Re: Nat 20s on SIEGE checks

I suppose my original post wasn't entirely clear about it... obviously, I'm not gonna throw out Siege checks for things that it's obvious a character cannot do. And naturally, I don't make them do rolls for everything. I'm not talking realms of impossibility here, just improbability. By the same tok...

Nat 20s on SIEGE checks

I'm curious about this just for the unadulterated heck of it. Obviously everyone has their own rules (and houserules) for natural 20 rolls in combat. I honestly don't remember a rule or even suggestion about it in the PHB or CKG, but does anyone consider a natural 20 on a SIEGE check an auto-success...

Re: Doomsday..

I did submit an adventure a few days back (have not heard back to ensure it made it through and was properly formatted, etc, yet), and was considering doing up some art, but could conceivably look at doing up a monster or two, as well. Is that predominately what we would like to have?

Tree,

Late to the party (internet is scattered at home) but I have a short adventure I'm trying to finish up to send. Is the submission call still open?

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

Paizo's Emerald Spire Megadungeon. Got it for Father's Day, mostly just to check out and see if it were mine-able for our monthly campaign. It's not bad, by any stretch, but I don't think it comes anywhere near Castle Whiterock, despite the awesome interior art.

Re: Which Linux Distro?

Much thanks for the Zorin suggestion, Arduin... I'm a believer after using it on a bootable thumbdrive. I don't currently have a system to run Linux as my primary OS (too many of my art programs are too tied up in Windows and have their own issues with Wine), but I have a couple laptops whose boot t...

Re: Race as Class

RaC just never caught me after I moved from Metzner to AD&D (2E), and I've never steered away. When some friends of mine a couple years back wanted to play Labyrinth Lord and Basic, it just felt like... I dunno, a step backward, IMHO. I do understand why a lot of people like Race-as-Class, or even w...

Sorry, guys. Looks like not only will I not be running this year, but there's a pretty good probability that I won't even be able to attend. Money is very badly tight this year. :(

So guess what I just got back?

Thank you, U.S. Government, for giving me the opportunity to get my taxes back at the end of the year so I could pick up a new art computer! The bad side is that my work on maps is probably going to slow a little bit. The good news is that my 3D work for World of Phantasie adventure covers is probab...

I've made sure my wife has seen the 'Etsy Store' responses, and she's all blushy. Maybe this is something she can put in there next to her custom clay pieces at her store, if there's a decent market for it. I'll see!

Re: Differing book sizes across the line

I think the only way it would really bother me were if the 3 sisters were bought slipcase style and still had the same issue. As it is, I didn't even notice. I think I remember all the module/accessories were the same height, excepting After Winter's Dark. My wife is OCD, however, and now she's goin...

I Have the Best Wife Evar...

I'm waaaaaayyyyy late to do this, because I've been dealing with a shift change at work and a lot of varied home activities. My wife,as some of you know, is ridiculously craft-y. She does a lot of polymer clay figurines and ornaments and sculptures, and does 3D art and writes. She also loves tableto...

Paizo Critical Hit and Fumble deck (I make judgment rulings on anything that doesn't apply in C&C) Chessex Wet-Erase Grid Mat or Paizo dry-erase boards (not a necessity, but we like to do up hand-drawn battlemaps) Paizo Pawns Bestiary Box Set (Working on making our own custom pawns for characters) I...

Re: Black & white, versus colour book interiors

Honestly, I actually prefer the colored pages. When it's done well, I feel like it gives the book a more professional, 'stand up and take notice' feel. Maybe it's because Paizo spoiled me, or maybe it's because of the glut of 3E splatbooks that were done in black and white and just felt very dull an...

A homemade (and very swanky!) felt-lined dice rolling box, along with a set of Q-Workshop dice and the Pathfinder Pawns Bestiary Box... which has in turn made me and my wife strongly consider making some flat standup minis of our own iconics on 3mm foamboard. Re: C&C 2015: What are you doing?

Our big world-spanning low-level-to-epic World of Phantasie campaign is still moving forward (although because of player pregnancies, real life and a lot of work overtime, it is doing so at a positively glacial pace), and I am hopeful that by the end of the year I'll begin to have everything finaliz...

As an artistic type, myself, I can tell you that I am naturally more receptive to color printing, whether gloss or matte. Even if it's just color plates and accenting, ala the original TSR 2E books. It catches the eye, and grabs my interest, and makes me give a second look to something I might not h...

Re: Sooo then, as a C&C aficionado...

I mostly CK, but not because I don't want to play. When we were playing much more regularly, I preferred to GM with the C&C ruleset, while others opted for 3.5/PF or Basic D&D. While I enjoyed playing any games, I was always a little disappointed that in order to use C&C, I had to CK it.
