Re: The One Ring RPG: New LOTR RPG

I dunno. I roll that D12 normally, but it does like to roll low. I can't explain it. I have been rolling D12s for 28 years and they don't like to roll high for me. Maybe they roll fine for you, and if they do, great for you. D8s do the same thing to me. Now if it was D6s or D4s then those dice alway...

Re: The One Ring RPG: New LOTR RPG

D12? Yikes. Not a fan of the D12. It's the bastard child of polyhedrons, along with its sister D8... Beyond anything as needling as that, I'm not a fan of the world as a campaign setting for an RPG. For a novel, hell yes, but an RPG has different demands, IMO. Middle Earth is a great world (second o...

Re: Which Game do you DISLIKE the most.....

 Wow. That review was simultaneously riotously funny and SAN-blastingly awful. What a creepy, hot-mess of a game, and what a... I have no words for the author. I thought it was maybe a troll-written f*ck you to RPGers until I read the rebuttal. Yikes. I guess it still might be, but 900 pages ...

Re: Which Game do you DISLIKE the most.....

I love topics like this. Sigh. But I am very long winded. You have been warned.... I actually like 4th ed way better than 3.x ed. That said, 3.x ed is probably my least favorite system, overall. Too cumbersome to run, bled all the play and fun out of the monsters, made multiclassing and magic itemin...

Re: PRoblem with Secondary Skills in CKG

I was just wondering about this myself. I was thinking of house ruling it to add half level, round down, instead of +1. I still might, but that's because I'd like Secondary Skills to have a greater effect on play, acting almost like class abilities. I also thought I'd house rule the Advantages syste...

Re: Questions, questions

Thanks everybody. That's a shame about the Freeport Companion. I really like it. I guess I will be printing it out. That SRD demons/devils document is cool. Using it, I hope to adapt all of the infernal baddies from 1st edition to C&C. They were always my favorite bad guys. The monsters listed in Of...

Re: The Castle Keepers Guide is...

Got mine today! Looks pretty sweet, though the secondary skill rule of not adding level to the attributes rolls is perplexing... I thought level got added to all attribute checks?

Questions, questions

I have a few questions:
1) Where can I get a copy of the Freeport C&C Companion in print? That is an amazing supplement!!
2) Are the classic AD&D demons and devils covered in Monsters of Airdhe?
3) What monsters are covered in Of Gods and Monsters?

Re: Did I miss this rule anywhere?

I thought that might be the case. I was creating Arthur and his bunch, so I wanted to be sure. So now I have done the best of Robert E. Howard, King Arthur, a sprinkling of Robin Hood, Elric, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser... Next up? Lord of the Rings! I haven't had this much fun creating characters si...

Re: Mike Mearls discovers C&C (sort of)

I've quite a few contacts in the local bookseling community and they say that Pathfinder and D&D were more or less neck and neck. The Essentials set seems to have backfired. It confused people so now they aren't buying the new books because they think they're for Essentials and they're frustrated be...

Re: CKG simply great

I've already got all of your pdfs, clavis. Great stuff, too. Conan works perfectly as is with Barbarian/(1/2)Thief. And yes, he wears chainmail- Robert E. Howard- accept no subtsitute kids. lol Where can I find Creature Feature? I have seen the demons and devils write ups here and they are great. I'...

Re: CKG simply great

Ok, the expressive image is awesome. Answering a question posed long ago in the early times of this thread, I'd like to see a couple of books by the Troll Lords. First, I guess I can dream that now that Mongoose has lost the rights to a Conan RPG, TL could get it and show everyone how it ought...

Re: Mike Mearls discovers C&C (sort of)

Oh and I can say this for C&C as well: I sat down and created the following heroes: Conan, Red Sonja, Kull, Bran Mak Morn, Cormac Mac Art, Solomon Kane, King Arthur, Sir Launcelot, Merlin, and various members of their supporting cast, and I have never been able to do that. Never. Kudos to the Troll ...

Re: Did I miss this rule anywhere?

Thanks to both. I can't believe I missed that!
I had just house ruled it as a flat 15 if the CK felt a save was warranted. I love the old-school table, though.

Re: Mike Mearls discovers C&C (sort of)

I have always liked to customize my RPGs heavily, using my own world and adding in rules as I need them. C&C allows me to do that with the same brilliant ease that Gygax's AD&D did. High praise from me!

Did I miss this rule anywhere?

Can anyone point me towards the rules for Item Saving Throws? They are mentioned several times, but I haven't seen them.

Re: Mike Mearls discovers C&C (sort of)

Hello all. First time poster, long time gamer ( ). For my coppers' worth I'll say this: I thought 4th edition was an improvement over 3.x. It was more direct and colorful and the default setting was terrific. No offense to Greyhawk diehards, but I never cared for it. The fixes to the planes a...
