Re: I hate fey!

Everyone has their hates or preferences, mine are zombies. I cannot get 'into' them at all and no matter what genre I have them in, or show/movie/book they are boring to me. For a decade I have hosted a horror TV show and only played one zombie movie in it all. There is nothing that can convince me ...

Re: I hate fey!

If you use the Faery races according to ancient lore and myth as a model for story ideas, the possibilities are quite endless. I have used them for twenty years and never ran out of substance or unique and fun ideas. It is all in the approach, besides certain monsters and animals also fall into the ...

Re: TLG 8130 Codex Celtarum

Gaelic is both a language, or languages, and a group, the 'Q' family of surviving Celtic. The Celtic language family at the present has two families: 'P' (Cornish, Welsh and Breton) and the 'Q' (Irish, Manx and Scottish), a once large family that covered almost all of early Europe. Now extinct in it...

Re: The Codex Celtarum PDF is out for KS backers!

I might try to make a pronunciation guide separately if the demand is high enough and definitely post it here for everyone. I used all six surviving Celtic languages of course throughout, since the lore and myths come from all, or my own additions to them were in those languages. I thought the Table...

Re: The Codex Celtarum PDF is out for KS backers!

Diolch yn fawr pawb un! I wanted to keep the use of the Celtic languages to a level that non-users can understand and yet not lose or sacrifice the distinctive Celtic idiom throughout, the only thing I didn't put in it was a pronunciation guide (maybe Second Edition someday?).

Re: The Goblins of Mount Shadow ( my review )

Points noted! This was my first module, so it had some rough spots and traces (I think subconsciously) from other systems in my past too. If we do a re-print, second edition it will definitely be expanded on for sure, no doubt there! I am not a big 'dungeon' designer, I like to have players explore ...

Re: TLG 8130 Codex Celtarum

I will be happy to sign copies if we can manage that somehow, by conventions, etc, no problem, and it won't be in weird places! This book was a major journey for me, enough of one that I could write an entire academic one to explain it all. It would be autobiographical covering my own progression fr...

Re: Yr Wyddfa CLs?

There is no Pathfinder element here by any means! The CLs are as judged best for whatever they refer to, so there is no pattern or logic except that it needs to require the players to make the roll depending on what difficult situation is at hand, but as always the CK can alter them best to suit the...

Re: The Arcanum C&C

I have ran this setting since it first came out in the late 80's and love it. It is a great setting, very Robert E. Howard-esque. It is good to see other people are also into it, our group has twenty years of campaigns to talk about with generations of characters.

Re: Spooky Holiday Modules

I am working on one specifically about Halloween in my series right now called 'Spirit Night' (from the traditional Welsh 'Ysprydnos') that involves the ghost haunted forest Coed Celyddon, Hadrian's Wall, dark druids, the Wild Hunt, Picts, gods, monsters and of course spirits. It is halfway done but...

Re: TLG 8130 Codex Druidum

Whats in a name? Personally I've never given thought to the origins of a name that graces rpg's. Some are good some are questionable and some are just bad. I don't have any need to see if the name was "right" in its usage and more about the appeal. I happen to like the name and I suspect that there...

Re: TLG 8130 Codex Druidum

well I'll be! So it is, Serleran. And, in fact, my Lewis and Short conveniently gives the following entry: Druides, -um (Druidae, -arum). So the genitive plural (masc.) is druidum, making "Codex Druidum" correct. I retract any objection to that phrase! All the more reason, then, to use the correct ...

Re: Codex Druidum

I have a hard time seeing how that would ruin an idea. I was using the names Albion, Caledonia, and Hibernia long before the Epic of Aerth came out and still use them. Albion is an ancient Celtic name but it has been influenced by Greek explorers, as Hibernia was and both lost their native forms by...

To simply it: the tattoo would be of (obviously) Celtic design in form and can possess one of the Faery ability or even Spell traits when inked into the skin of the user. These are not long, vast rules but are straightforward and to the point with a thousand applications and some rules to manage inj...

Re: Codex Druidum

Beyond all else, I think the ultimate Mastery of a GM is if s/he always has a table full of ready and eager gamers whenever they want to run. If there are no players willing to come to the game, that should say it all and give an indication that a change is needed for it to improve. On this, we'd h...

Re: Codex Druidum

I disagree, and I partially agree. Mastering the game is not about having resources... it is about knowing what to allow, how to fairly adjudicate, and how to flex the rules, wherever they derive. Having multiple resources simply provides more guidance, but they should never be the only support -- ...

Re: Codex Druidum

As a GM I want as many 'toys' in my toy box as possible to diversify and open up endless possibilities and I gobble up this kind of material for my games, to make them the best they can be. Players should never know what to expect if you such an unlimited canvas as 'splatbooks' to draw from. The les...
