Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion

The Trolls have compiled adventures into a hard cover before. They did it with the Haunted Highlands KS. There is a boxed set soft cover compilation of the A series too, so when A 13 finally comes out, hopefully as part of a KS for it, a hard cover compilation will be an option. That would be amazi...

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion

I like Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, Mystara and bits and pieces of Planescape, Dark Sun, etc... but not their entirety. I also like adventures being compiled into nice, long lasting, hard covers, rather than multiple, easy to damage, soft covers. Especially if they are also offered as a P...

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion

I understand that there will be a group of people who don't enjoy certain settings and that it's not an absolute. My point was that we can't argue their overall commercial success. Those settings (Forgotten Realms, DragonLance, etc.) were merely examples of TSR/WoTC ability to create content that is...

Re: Best place to put stuff up for sale?

I've always thought about buying this but knowing that it's incomplete makes me stop and not purchase it. It always bothered me that Gary couldn't complete this and while I totally understand his wife's position on the matter, I feel like it was the crown jewel that we all know is there, that unfort...

Re: Halloween themed adventure module

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to say that I'm fairly new to CKing. I don't think I'm ready to or know how to effectively scale down Ravenloft to 3rd level. An easy way to bring your characters immediately up in level in a way that is palatable and reasonable is to have them all enter a dream state and T...

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion

I see a lot of responses here relative to the system. I suppose for me the biggest thing that I've always liked about TSR & Wizards of the Coast was their Adventures and their campaign settings. The top 30 modules of all time have some incredible story telling points to them. Ravenloft, ToEE, The To...

Re: Halloween themed adventure module

I agree that Ravenloft, when properly prepared for by the CK/DM is an outstanding adventure to run for Halloween. It's quite possibly the best of the best in my opinion.

Re: Gary Con VIII (2016)

I just realized I had another question. Does anyone run the S1-Tomb of Horrors at Gary Con? I am slightly ashamed to admit this as I've been playing AD&D flavor games for decades and have never played this classic adventure. I'd love the chance to run through it with a character and group of players...

Yes. They did do that. How did they do that? They took Apple's strategy of giving away the OS for free. A software development company versus a hardware design company. It costs nothing for Apple to give away OSX. It costs Microsoft B I L L I O N S to give away Windows. I don't disagree with the str...

Can anyone who has been to Gary Con let me know what it's like? I just brought my youngest son to Gen Con and he loved it. Re: What will be the name of A13?

Tyler - we're gonna head into A1 after a short stint into the old D&D classic The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. I'd like to get them to about 4th or 5th level before I move them into Ravenloft.

It was great to meet you. Very informative sales presentation. I really enjoyed it.

So far I have purchased the PHB, CKG, M&T, Classic Monsters and the Book of Familiars. I feel like I have a great set of core rules and optional rules. Having a setting to place the players in is going to be very important for our storytelling. I'm truly looking forward to this. As a side note, I ha...

Re: Codex & PG to Aihrde

Is the Codex to Aihrde the actual campaign setting itself or is it more of a history book for the world? As an example, does it contain several key NPC's? Perhaps rulers of kingdoms and their stats? Drizzt was an example in the Forgotten Realms. I'm very curious about Aihrde as a campaign setting ov...

I'm anxiously awaiting the release of these two books. Unfortunately, I didn't know about the Kickstarter and wasn't able to get in on that at the time (although I totally would have). Re: Level advancement

For normal advancement, depending on the type of adventure, I would say 4-5 gaming sessions of 3-5 hours per session are typical of a level advancement. I would also say that this tends to slow based on a curve to begin lower level characters and slows down during higher level adventures.

What will be the name of A13?

Hello all. I was recently at Gen Con introducing my youngest son Luke to the con and had a chance to meet the trolls. As I was looking through some of the materials, I was talking quite a bit with Tyler. One question that I totally forgot to ask him about was the "big book" that is due out for the a...
