Re: Strength question (sort of)

Captain_K....you're going to have to write that so a "newbie" gets it and isn't scared by all that math. They'll go running back to D&D if they see that a STR check in C&C takes a slide rule to figure out. :) Don't sweat it... The 10x/15x rule for what you can press/lift is good. Want to go beyond ...

Re: Anyone using milestones instead of xp for C&C?

The only issue I really see is the classes are not balanced at a given level. A 7th level Rogue is not equivalent to a 7th level Fighter, and definitely not to a 7th level Paladin. I have bandied about session based leveling, this is something I had come up with. The number listed is the number of s...

Someone on some forum (or Google plus) recommended the following leveling scheme, which I think would fit my games: Level No of sessions Cumulative session 1 1 1 2 2 2-3 3 4 4-7 4 8 8-15 5 8 16-23 6 8 24-31 7 8 32-39 8 8 40-47 9 8 48-55 10 8 56-63 Basic formula: 1-2-4-8-8-8-8 etc. EDI...

Are these Pregens for the players or NPCs or both?

Any thoughts on what you would like for them. I have two NPC's ready right now in the form-fillable sheet, and can transcribe some other NPC's from my home-brew, probably change the names to protect the innocents, but you know how that goes...

M&T Monster Statistics

I've always hated typing up stat blocks, never seemed to make them fully consistent. So, I decided to work out a spreadsheet to take all of the monster stats, useful in itself, but then also include a stat block generator for it. I had started this previously, but have come back to finish it up as I...

I know what you mean about tearing oneself away from GenCon. I only go every other year, and I'd go every year if I could. Re: Mana Points, Spell Slots, or Vancian?

I generally go with standard Vancian rules. That said, I love the change in the 5e Rules. You can memorize your attribute modifier + Level number of spells from any spell level you can cast, and may cast spells of a lower level from a higher level spell slot, and this is how the spells become more p...

Re: "Common" magic items for sale

Hrm, Arduin, I still see major issues with the pricing of most of these items. There is an established economy in C&C, and many of these items end up just breaking these down, especially when considering the adventuring implications. Why worry about heaps of citrus for long voyages when for a crew o...

"Common" Magic Items for sale - Side Topic on cost

Arduin, to not bog your thread down in a side discussion on the basis for setting the prices of the items, I thought it best to open a new discussion. Again, you failed to read the intro post. The folding boat would cost ~$42,500,000 in the currency value I'm using. The boat I listed costs about $20...

I choose to have these types of items be enchanted precious stones that are not destroyed when the magic is invoked by the user but could be re-enchanted. I would have the stone be consumed as well, or the magic cost increased for certain effects. Banquet Stone. A 5 gp aquamarine stone than when in...

This is the same mechanism as fiat currency. Printing more money doesn't change someones wealth. It simply takes more to buy something now. Same with debasing metal coinage... Re: Queen of the Spiders (C&C)

If you really want to fly, don't bother with the C&C stats. Just use the stat block in the module. All you have to do is flip the AC, decide on primes, and convert the movement rate. It's not critical that the orc in TOEE be identical to an orc in the C&C M&T. All the players see is a monster. They...
