TLG at Gen Con

Quick question to those in positions of "in the know": Are there plans for a C&C 'Tourney' or the like at the con, the way there was last year with the wildly successful Giant's Rapture? If so, A) I would be interested in running (I had a lot of fun doing so last year), so I'm just sor...

It's Coming Along!

Slowly, but surely, I'm starting to really get my pet project closer to completion. The long process has included a redo of my world map, which I'm currently in the process of doing. I'm just excited enough that I wanted to give everyone a looksee! EDIT: Updated with this weekend's extra work! http:...

I will be there as well! I am hoping to do some C&C style gaming, too, so reserve me a seat!

Apologies, all, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I will not be able to run my Whosyercon C&C games as planned. I'm still hoping to make a couple shortened appearances at the con, but I had to pull my games from the schedule and cancel out from the games I had planned on attending as well. I'...

All's I can say is thank god I live in Indy. I feel really bad for all of yas that have to undergo the rigmarole of preregistration for hotel rooms. Seeing how messed up event registration is, it's hard to believe that hotels could be worse, but there you go.

Who's Yer Con 2014, Feb 21-23

Just a heads up.... Who's Yer Con is a moderate and growing con in Indianapolis, IN, now in its 6th year, and is a small metric crapton of fun! Con dates are Friday, February 21st through Sunday, February 23rd-- moved up slightly this year. Event Registration has already started at http://www.whosye...

Hey all! Just wanted to make a quick mention that my wife's Etsy store is having a weekend-long 50% off sale on all her already (pre-) made beholders, from Black Friday to Cyber Monday! So any of her current crop of beholders is available for only $6 (+s/h) this weekend! Thanks again for l...

Mrs. ArgoForg's Etsy Shoppe

Heya all, I don't get over here as often as I would like-- between work and teething baby, Argo is a right busy bastard, he is. But I did want to go ahead and plug my wife's new (at least, fairly new) Etsy shop, Jessica Hughey Creations. She is pretty good at making handmade polymer clay figurines a...

The thing about detail, IMHO, is that when you know those details, the environment becomes a much more complete, more engaging, and more engrossing place for the players. They may not ever have to know that-- for instance-- two generations ago, Lord Lindlay was secretly murdered by his brother, and ...

Re: Rethinking the Plus level bonus to saves

This is something that a couple of my players have railed hard against when we were regularly playing, calling the Siege Engine a "broken rule". I don't know that I ever adequately explained it to them, but as a CK, it's very important to remember that it's not just a base roll (d20+ Chara...

Re: Monster Tables by XP value

Might have already been said, but page 201 of the CKG does have an alphabetical list of monsters by Tier (Tier I = 1-3 HD, II = 4-6 HD, III = 7-9 HD, etc) to give you a a very general idea by HD. Of course, it goes on to say that Hit Dice alone doesn't make a monster encounter, so whether or not tha...

Re: A couple new ones...

More or less, yes... a couple of them are pictures I've sort of dreamed up with some help from my wife (and co-conspirator). The characters you see here are some of the iconics for WoP, so they tend to appear in a lot of my art. It's also a safe bet to say you can think of some of these as adventure...

Re: D20, Next, & the Future

The above pretty much describes me to a "T". When I got back into role playing, with the name brand (D&D 3.5), I was astonished at what a heavier ruleset it had and how the emphasis had been put on numbers. It threw me that combat took so godawful long, and when I first started running...

I've always been a fan of Castle Whiterock, myself. Re: WTH?!? No C&C Gen Con action reports?

Gen Con was the same blast it ordinarily is for me, although it becomes a little more difficult year when you factor in that I had a seven-month old to help my wife keep occupied, so I had to tone down my usual spending and away-from-home time. It also meant I had to spend late night bar-hopping wit...

Bluffside Faux Pas?

I know that the Trolls are probably just now leaving the Convention Center in Indy, so this may not be something they'll be able to answer right away, but this evening was the first chance I had to look over my Gen Con haul, and among the other things I got from the TLG booth was the softcover Bluff...

I actually started shying from 3.x/3.75/4.x because of the way some later iterations of games have shied away from SoD's in favor of straight damage, so understand that I may not be the most unbiased around here... :D But that said, I do try to have ways around the downfall of an entire party to SoD...
