Re: Cleric v Druid, Wizard v Illusionist
The Adventurer's Backpack (when it comes out) will have a bunch of new classes. These might work better in your game world.

Re: Petrified Player Characters and how to Cure them
Dispel Magic won't work - the description specifically mentions that it only works against magic with on-going effects, not "instantaneous" magic. Petrification is "instantaneous". As mentioned previously, Transmute Flesh and Stone is the appropriate spell. They might find a scr...

Re: Why do C&C classes advance at different rates XP-wise?
so I now have a Paladin that's trailing behind the other PC's in the party (Bard, Rogue, and Assassin-- yes, it's a weird group and now as I write this, I wonder what on earth a Paladin is even doing travelling with these other characters). The paladin should be trying to convert the others all the...

Re: Cleric v Druid, Wizard v Illusionist
The interpretation of "illusions" as being "real" and causing real damage, and also real healing, and the ability to create real objects - if only temporary - goes back to the early days of Rolemaster (which was initially an "add-on" to AD&D before becoming it's own...

Re: Cleric v Druid, Wizard v Illusionist
Again, from the CKG (emphasis mine): The illusionist projects his power into the target’s mind, causing the target’s own belief to actually break his own bones or split open his own flesh . Any damage caused in this way remains, even after the character casts out the illusionist’s magic. Such physic...

Re: Anyone running a "regular' C&C game with an opening
I have a Wednesday night game and a Sunday night game, both on Fantasy Grounds (I have the ultimate license, so players can connect with the free demo). I know I have room in my Wednesday night game, and I might have one more slot in the Sunday night game (I have a couple players that have stopped s...

Re: Cleric v Druid, Wizard v Illusionist
And, as a final thought - higher level Illusionists can also have the chance (1%, IIRC) of their "illusions" becoming real, physical objects that cannot be dispelled or will not go away when the spell ends. Even an illusion of a person has this chance of becoming a real, physical, living, ...

Re: Cleric v Druid, Wizard v Illusionist
And for those who will now undoubtedly say "But the CKG are all optional rules, so we don't have to follow them," I will point to this from the PHB (again, emphasis mine): An illusionist uses magic to alter the perceptions of others and even reality itself. This magic deceives the senses, ...

Re: Cleric v Druid, Wizard v Illusionist
From the CKG (emphasis mine): The illusionist is a master of time and substance. His abilities transcend the simple “illusions” of a trickster in that the illusionist conjures material from the essence of the world around him. His “illusions” are not simple parlor tricks to fool the weak of mind, bu...

make a bridge for the characters to cross Seriously? It can allow you to defy gravity? :-/ As long as the others players don't "disbelieve" then the bridge is real for them. And hangs around for a bit after the caster stops concentrating, so he can hustle over the bridge before it disappe...

Re: Burning Oil
No specific rules, but it just is a thrown weapon like any other, I would use a range of increment of 30. I would ignore armor (a "ranged touch attack") and a miss lands in an adjacent hex or square. I would judge the fire damage as 2d6 for anyone where the flask hit, 1d6 for adjacent hexe...

From the "Hasty Disengagement" section:
This is a free attack and does not count against the opponent’s other action in the round, although the opponent may not make a second attack against the fleeing character.

Yeah, it's the not the same metric as Roll20, but interesting. (Roll20 is counting the "game" as the campaign, not the session.) At least 2 of those C&C games on Roll20 are mine. And I've never played it there (just tried it, found it was too hard to use and moved on). I just mine it ...

Re: Troll Lords and C&C
Yet, looking at the Orr Report (fairly meaningless, but a data point) and seeing Roll20 has 19066 games and C&C has 39, it makes you wonder. The report for the first 3 quarters of 2016 for C&C on Fantasy Grounds was 1,960 games played. Extrapolating for the year, that would be about 2,600 g...

It's a 0 level spell, it's not really supposed to be very useful. I kinda see it as a helper to "pranks to play on freshmen" while they were in school - just like Prestidigitation for Wizards. I've only had players use it as a "warning" on doors - more the sound is used to warn t...

If you're wondering about that specific one (why it's not just a single number like the others), I read that as "1-3 and 5" - normally, a number implies all the numbers below it, but in this case, it excepts 4.

Game sessions. I run 2 campaigns per week, so I account for ~8 games per month, or about 100 of the 2,600 games.

Re: 2 sets of Silvered weapon rules
Is it just me, or are their 2 sets of silvered weapon rules? 1 in the PHB which states silvered weapons inflict -1 dmg as they aren't as sound as iron or steel. Then, in the CKG the section on silvered weapons says it inflicts extra dmg versus undead and lycanthrops. This is not a conflict. It does...

I'm looking for 6-8 players for a new campaign. The Company of the Ivory Scimitar has advertised for new adventurers to delve within a dungeon of unknown proportions below a legendary keep. You have decided to join this crew and seek your riches and fame. The party needs at least one of each Fighter...
