What is Your Favorite Part of Gaming?

Post by Joe »

Mine is that not only is it ok, but expected of your character to draw a weapon and slay the disrespectful punks that pop off to you.

Don't you think if we allowed this in society we would have a lot less disrpectful punks popping off at the mouth if they knew it meant they would soon be tasting a cold blade of steel?

Maybe thats why sir and maam were used so much more in the Wild West than it is today.

So tell me your favorite element about rpgs.

Oh, and I like the interaction with friends best of all. Hanging out and chilling with your buds over some dice is always fun.

Cooperative fantasy. And then killing the characters and starting all over with a new dream.

There is no one particular aspect about it that I like. It's a package deal. You get to play an action-packed game (or heavy RP), friends, laughs, and fantasy, all in ONE GAME. Awesome sauce X2.

Gameplay is it, but I do very much like chargen and giving the character a background and life!

I just DM mostly these days so I just like those moments when a player tries something imaginative or daring and unexpected and it comes off or when you look at the players faces and you can see you managed to get it all across right 'cos they are right in their own little imagination bubble.

Amen to that brother! This is what I love about gaming the most. Building close friendships and spinning memorable game table tales.

Lately, it's the fact that I've got something I can do with my now-teenaged son that is helping us actually become closer, rather than drift apart, at this point in our lives.

But it's always been about having fun with cool people. Or doing cool stuff with fun people. Or mishmash of the two.

I am simultaneously fun and cool.

Favorite part of the game...throwing dice with my buddies. Doesn't get any better than that.

I guess I'm a bit odd, but I really enjoy the prep time leading up to the game. Whether it's working up the plot, writing up notes, or painting miniatures - these are the times I enjoy the most.

For me: that point in every combat, confrontation, encounter where the CK/DM or player pulls some imaginative thing out of it and tries something totally unexpected -- whether it works or not, it's just so awesome a feeling playing a game where absolutely anything can happen!

The Egg

I enjoy the prep time as well. I'm apparently a bit odd as well, like the fearsome Egg of Coot. I have stacks of redrawn campaign maps and notebooks full of partial rewrites of modules.

I like creating stuff and seeing how it works, if it does, and whether it got the reaction I hoped for.
