Troll Lord Games

I love to read and I have been read a lot lately. I think most RPGers read a lot, so I'm curious as to what everyone else is reading.
I haven't read fantasy in years, but lately I have been in a serious mood to read it. At the moment I am reading Leonard Carpenter's Conan the Outcast, which is pretty good for a TOR Conan novel. I am also reading Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte Darthur, published by Wordsworth Classics based on the Caxton manuscript. I am also reading Dark Horse's The Savage Sword of Conan the Barbarian vol. 2.
I recently finished The Complete Conan Chronicles by Robert E. Howard and Peter Benchley's Jaws.
Next up I'd like to read the Baen edition of Cormac Mac Art, Moby Dick, and some of Lin Carter's Lemuria stuff.

At the moment:

• Swan Song by Robert McCammon (upon recommendation)
• Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks (re-reading passions of my youth)

And, no shortage of RPG books. Just keeping up with Pathfinder campaign material is enough to keep a reading list full.

I have the 12 volume set of Tolkien's Histories of Middle earth, in a 3 volume hardback set. I'm currently reading that.

I'll likely wander into some Alain Quartermain and Alexandré Dumas next.

Currently reading Neuromancer by William Gibson... good early cyberpunk novel (thought by many to be the first of the genre)... read it years and years ago but thought it was time to enjoy it again.

Artifact of Evil, the second Gord the Rogue book.

Neuromancer is fantastic. Classic opening line! I think it is considered the first true cyberpunk novel, but I have always thought Asimov's Caves of Steel and Dick's Do Androids Dream About Electric Sheep laid a ton of ground for cyberpunk.
How is Dance With Dragons? I've read the first two Game of Thrones novels and they were amazing.

First off, love the name. Howard is my favorite writer.

If you liked the first two, then you should continue. Book 4 is a bit slow, and 5 starts out that way, but they are good.

Thanks. Howard has been my favorite since 4th grade when I read the Ace paperback edition of Conan the Usurper. I had read The Hobbit the year before and liked it, but Howard was so much more me it isn't even funny. I feel like David Drake: Robert E. Howard made me want to write!

I do plan to read the rest of Martin's stuff, but I am waiting for them all to be out. I hate waiting on the final chapter of a book. Is DWD the last one?

Right now, I am packing away all of my books, so I am reading their titles and deciding whether they go into the "sell" pile or not. Mostly, what has been put aside for redistribution have been my less-favored RPGs but my wife tossed some mechanics books and I looked them over... some somewhat interesting things, but not my thing.

Re-reading the; A Song of Ice and Fire series, just to get the whole story firmly in my mind when I finally get to; Dance with Dragons.

So far I've been enjoying it as much as the first time around.

Yep, covered it in this post in another thread, which should help clear some things up.

As far as game stuff, I'm slowly working my The Savage Tales of Solomon Kane (cover above). I had never read any of Howard's original stuff. Instead, all my Conan stuff came from the Marvel comics and the movies. I figured it was about time I sat down and read the stuff. I started with Solomon Kane, primarily to get a feel for the world and setting in case I ever run Savage Worlds using Solomon Kane.

Well, obviously, I am a huge Robert E. Howard fan. I hope you like his stuff as much as I do. If I might recommend:
Worms of the Earth (Bran Mak Morn)
Red Nails (Conan)
Queen of the Black Coast (Conan)
By This Axe I Rule! (Kull)

A Witch Shall be Born is my favorite REH tale. Never felt the love for Red Nails (although it is great, as are all REH stuff).

I've been re-reading the annotated Dragonlance Chronicles and I've the annotated Dragonlance Legends sitting on my shelf.

That's pretty cool. I just fnished re-re-re reading Dragons of Autumn Twilight. I love that book. The rest are cool too, but as the story get's more epic, it looses that certain low-level flavor to it.

Frankenstein. Read it back in junior high, but like everything else prior to my late teen years, I don't remember it.

By far my favourite Gaiman book.

I haven't read any of Gaiman's stuff...well, let me correct that, I bought Neverwhere as an audio book (Unabridged) and, man, that was awesome. What a setting, and tons of inspiration. There even a couple of RPGs for that setting too.

Metal, I highly recommend the audio version of The Graveyard Book. It's read by Gaiman.
