Favorite fantasy character...
From any fiction... be it novel, movie, etc.
Once again, you are permitted ONE choice, but you may make honourable mentions afterward.

Raistlin Majere from Dragonlance was perhaps my favorite character.

That's a tough one. There's so many to choose from. I don't know where to start.

Re: Favorite fantasy character...
You gotta go with your gut on these questions.
My first thought was Sir Nigel Loring from Conan Doyle's "The White Company" and "Sir Nigel" books. An English squire/knight in the Hundred Years War serving with the Black Prince.
Not really fantasy, but neither is it history. We can call it historical fantasy, so there.

My favorite is kind of a cheat. I love Michael Moorcock's "Eternal Champion" series. So, even though the eternal champion is many different people spanning an entire multiverse of time and space, that's my favorite character. If I had to be more specific... the incarnation that I enjoy the most is (believe it or not, it's not Elric)... John Daker who "becomes" Erikose. Love that series.

Ged, aka Sparrowhawk, from the Earthsea books by Ursula LeGuin.

A very close second for me is Silk, from Eddings' Belgariad series.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Oooh, good call. I always liked the grim and god-tormented Tempus. I really need to get around to re-reading those books.
Solomon Kane is also a great character.
For my part, I'm going to have to go with Gimli. He is stubborn, but intensely loyal to his friends, brave and stalwart, but with a true love of beauty. That and he has an awesome beard.

Probably Frodo, but the one from the book, not the movies.

Re: Favorite fantasy character...
Frodo and Sam in the book for sure. Their movie chars have begun to irritate me to no end - although I still like the movies.
Aragorn and then Gandalf are my book favs.
Many from Shannara and Dragonlance.
Probably, Conan for favourite!

Re: Favorite fantasy character...
I'm partial to Gord the Rogue, personally.
As an Honorable Mention, I'd say Edmond Dantès, the Count of Monte Cristo. I guess he's more "historical fantasy" of sorts, since it is a work of fiction. If I had to disqualify him, probably Kvothe, from the Kingkiller Chronicles (Patrick Rothfuss).

Re: Favorite fantasy character...
You've all covered most of mine ...
Top picks (I can't don't have 1 all time favorite, sorry) soooooo consider them all honorable mentions!
As Tolkien introduced me to the love of fantasy I'll start with him
Bilbo
Pippin & Merry (Is it sad I like them better than Frodo)
Aragorn
After Tolkien, Lewis
The mouse (I can't think of his name ... ) Swashbuckler
Now to other general books/series
Solomon Kane - better than Conan by a long shot!
Mat Cauthon & Lan Mandragoran from 'Wheel of Time'
Shadowspawn from "thieves world"
Strum from Dragonlance
Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser
Sparowhawk from Earthsea
D'Artagnan & Athos
Count of Monte Cristo
El Cid (The movie)
Chrysagon de la Cruex - The War Lord (another Charlton Heston movie)
Now some you may not have read
Captain Alatriste by Perez-Reverte
Francis Crawford by Dunnett
I think those are enough 'honorable mentions' for now
