David Eddings has passed

A dang fine author, if you've never read the Belgariad you've missed out.

Agreed. Along with The Lord of the Rings, I usually read through Edding's books at least once a year, and have done so since 1990.

A sad day.

Lady Polgara has to be one of my favorite fantasy characters, hands down. This is really sad news.

Sad news I've always enjoyed Edding's books, and the Belgariad will always have a special place for me, as it is the book set both me and my now wife had in common when we first met many years ago! (and also the only fantasy books I've ever known my dad to read)

I loved the Belgariad series. Absolutely some of my favorite books.

God Speed to Mr. Eddings.

Man, this stinks. While I did like the Belgariad a lot, I actually preferred the Elenium. 'Cuz I'm a history nerd and the paralells were fun to spot.

A bad day all around....

Holy crap...that's terrible. I've only read one of his books, The Redemption of Althalus, and thought it was fantastic.

Terrible loss to the world of fantasy.

I didn't care so much for his later books, but I must have read the Belgariad, Mallorean, and Sparhawk books a dozen times each.

That is sad news. I am sorry to see we will not see any more of his works. I really liked his books.
