just saying hello from GaryCon, where I played my first Castles & Crusades game this morning. I summarily marched into the dealer's room and purchased the Players Handbook, the Monsters & Treasures book, and the new CK Screen. Tomorrow - after I replenish the wallet a bit - I'll go ahead and grab the Castle Keeper's Book. May as well pick it up directly from the source and save myself shipping charges, eh? ;)

At any rate I plan to introduce this game to my original high school AD&D group back home in Georgia. We'd only recently gotten back together after a 25 year hiatus. Boy, that real life stuff can certainly put a damper on the fun things. hah hah.

After attending my first GaryCon here this year, I know I'll be back next year. And if I can stay focused on gaming, perhaps I'll write up a game to run next year using the C&C rule set.

Thanks,

~Hoyt.

I know Mark Cover (I think I've got his last name correct) was taking pictures of pretty much everything, I'll see if I can find a link. I've got some pictures of the Chainmail game I was in Thursday night as well as the Divine Right game I ran on Friday, along with some other random shots.

Wife took tons of pics for 3 days, when she gets the best sorted out and fixed up, will try to post some.

Con was great again this year. Had a blast.

Saw many we met last year, and a few new faces. Good to see everyone.

Didn't know that Google+ had such a good picture site. Well done Google.

It looked like a lot of fun. Any chance of some labeling applied to the pics?

Kingmaker looks an awful lot like: War of the Roses from the 80's.

I believe it would be more accurate to say that "War of the Roses" looks an awful lot like Kingmaker from the 1970's."

wife and I got some pics from around the con. She'll likely post them somewhere, which I'll leave a link to once she tells me where.

Thanks, John. I've sold fireworks for my uncles off and on over the years. Selling rpg's is easy because I'm passionate about my hobby, and I can flap my gums. Lol. Hoyt, thanks for picking up some books. Hope you get years of enjoyment out of C&C.

I was only exposed to; War of the Roses. I knew; Kingmaker existed but that knowledge didn't come about till the mid 90's. I don't bother to find out when a board game was first made. ;)

Sir Ironside - I'm with ya! I have other uses for my remaining braincells too, but doesn't stop my brain from being a cesspool of generally useless trivia. ;)

Thanks Omote for the welcome! :)

And CKDad - you'll have to send a pic so I can match the face. I posted a picture of the Saturday morning game John ran over in his Home from Gary Con IV! thread.

Tylermo - thanks for the standby game on Saturday night! That was fun - even if my dice were sucking wind all night. :? hah hah! but what a fitting end to a great convention. I hope we can manage another game next year bro.

Thanks again all! I believe I'm here for the long haul... at long last!

Sounds like we need a C&C tournament so I'm tossing my hat in to write and coordinate a 3 round C&C tournament for next year's Gary Con. First round on thurs, 2nd on fri, and 3rd round on sat. I'd provide a copy of each round to the CKs a few months in advance for playtesting, register the events, get tables scheduled, have a Q and A session for CKs before game time each day, hand out scoring sheets, tally results and assign and marshal players to tables.

Scoring would be as follows: Each player ranks the 5 other players at their table from 1st to 5th in the following categories: rules knowledge, role playing, team play, strategy and leadership. The CK does the same but CK vote counts as double. Tally up the totals and the top 4 individual scores from each table advance to round 2. Round 2 would have 4 tables but only the top 3 scores from each table advance to round 3. Round 3 would have 2 tables with the top 3 individual scores winning a prize. I coordinated RPGA tournaments at Gen Con and Winter Fantasy that were set up the same way, drew a crowd and went smoothly.

What I'd need from the Trolls is a prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (progressively less costly) for the awards ceremony. I'd also need other CKs to run rounds with an extra CK as backup for each round (i.e. 6 on thurs (2 slots of 3 tables), 4 on friday (2 slots of 2 tables), 2 on sat (2 slots of 1 table). I'll run one table each round after marshaling or give it to the extra CK if we're not short. I'll bring a couple extra CKs with me to the convention just in case. Marshaling would take place in the front room on main floor by the hotel entrance where a sign and results would be posted. Gaming would take place in the gaming rooms downstairs or in the tournament room upstairs if it's available. I'd leave a stack of scoring sheets at the TLG vendors booth for CKs and pick up results from there then post results in the marshaling area. The CK Q&A meetings would be in the room behind the registration desk if they let us use it or at a table in the bar upstairs (less preferable since gamers could eavesdrop).

That's the plan but I'd need approval from the Trolls and convention staff to make it official. This would be for Gary Con 2013.

Comments? Suggestions? Trolls input?
Brian
