So. Last week, I tripped off to the wilds of Kentucky to participate in a week long oil painting class done by none other than Larry Elmore. We all worked on our own slight variations of the same painting, based on a recent work of his. Its been about 6 years since I've done any real oil painting. I learned quite a bit on this trip.

This is what I ended up with, and this was about the 90% complete stage.

Course, the visit to Art Mecca... err.... his studio nearly made my brain explode from the sheer awesome. But I managed to weather it well enough

*poofs off into the ether again*

Hey, Peter! Great to see you're alive!!
Love the painting in progress! Just don't lose your identity! Yeah, right, like that's going to happen!

Nice to see you're still able to post. Neat art concept, and one my wife would like a lot. Me, I think the woman is perhaps too light, but that could just be the color display I'm getting...

In the fantastical eurocentric vein given to us by EGG himself, I would say the womans coloring is "just right"
After looking at this latest piece I can see an Elmore influence in your other work as well if i am not mistaken.

Good stuff...glad to see your post.

Holy crap!

He's back!

And...the art's still awesome.
Joe, he's always had an Elmore influence in his art, but spending time with Elmore himself will make the Elmore more apparent. I just hope it doesn't overshadow the Raphael influence that I noticed the first time I saw his art, in the heady days leading up to the release of the game.

If it wasn't for Larry's art when I was just a young lad, I wouldn't be in the fantasy art field. So yes, he's a major influence.
He's also an uncommonly generous and decent bloke. More people could benefit from his example.

Yes, agree completely. Your trees and grass/shrubs are really well done. Course the woman center-front, is pretty good too!

+1 on Larry being a decent human being. Good dude, great artist.

PS- Nice work, Pete.
