Redstone - a former military mining town for iron, abandoned by the army as the mine began to play out. Done about 14 years ago.

Kagath, a frontier fort town grown into a regional trade hub as the kingdom it was once part of retracted its borders before falling to ruin. Done about 20 years ago.

Very nicely done. Hand-drawn maps are always the best!

Something I did to alleviate the boredom today...and now inspired to do the whole dungeon adventure to go with it. You poor poor poor souls you. *insane giggles*

THE FULL DUNGEON THAT GOES ALONG WITH THIS IS AVAILABLE AT THE KNIGHTS OF THE CRUSADE LIBRARY IN PDF FORMAT

The latest city that is in progress. The "eye" is a central shaft descending into the ground. Starts out as worked stone and rooms but gradually becomes more organic the deeper you go, complete with monstrous insect-like critters. Hence the city name.

EDIT: The finished city map. The fields around the "eye" are on the interior of the bowl depression. Houses built there rot quickly. People who stay in the fields at night report strange things...or vanish themselves.

Gorgeous work. Absolutely top-notch. When will we see your first professional map work in our favorite RPG?

Actually I'm working on the Temple Dungeon right now Omote. Working on the first draft of the polished up version for play testing. Once I have that set I'll be putting together a booklet of five city maps with keys and brief descriptions I'm thinking or some such thing. So basically a mini-book of towns/cities with my hand drawn maps. Don't know I'd call them professional level, but I think they're above napkin sketch work. ;)

Well above napkin work, and something I would certainly invest in should they come to OBS or a like service. But, quite literally, you should be sending samples of this work to TLG and other companies if you haven't already.

They'll likely be pdf only but set up so folks can take 'em to Staples or a like service if they want. Not sent anything to anyone other than posting on the cartography group and here. I do this stuff to relax in between working the two jobs I have now plus the single dad thing, not add stress from deadlines. ;) Besides, I don't think my work is something that would really be what they'd want with all the fancy computer maps and all being done these days. :geek:

Giving some thought about putting the maps with the associated write ups on a patreon account. May put the dungeons there as well. Looking for some feedback before I commit either way though. :?

I just found this corner of the boards.. wow, what an amazing surprise... do have like 6 extra hours in a day than the rest of us? The detail, the color... master cartographer needs to be added to your title.

I'm lucky if I squeeze 6 hours extra in a week not related to work or my daughter Cap. lol At least during my busy season. Things are slower over the fall and winter so not as much to do. The detail and such is just an offshoot of my work mindset. Civil Engineering Tech with a heavy background of drafting, surveying, planning, environmental/geo-technical, and inspection work. :ugeek: The color is just the result of years of doing artsy stuff and paying attention to how my chosen medium behaves. ;) I am by no means a master cartographer. Just a dedicated doodle-ist.

A black and white town map based on a real place in Northern California I spent a week at in 2003-2004. The original had a dwarven stronghold across the west river but I deleted it in this rendition. This can still serve as a prospecting and mining hub.

Thanks Z.

At some point after I get a few other things off my plate, I will be providing keys and a few pages of descriptions for each of about 4-5 towns, putting them into a single document / e-book type thing and having it available. The goal after that being able to get one or two such e-books out per year as my life continues to settle from the last couple years worth of chaos. I am also looking at being able to run a PbP or Rolld20 campaign starting around October of this year or so.

Cool! (insert thumbsup smiley that I cannot find here) I am glad that the chaos has receded for you.

I would say these exceed some of the "professional" maps done in TSR products of the late 80-90s.

If I had a project close to needing maps, I would ask and pay you to do them. That's enough to be professional.

Sure thing, Gp. Were I ever able to cobble my few ideas together into a publishable form, I would, too.
