Not a one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater I trust?
I really like the dwarven shield wall drawing too.

If you've ever played the TSR D&D module, B4 The Lost City, you would remember him. It's the Big Baddie from the lower levels of the dungeon! Completely wiped out our group when we played it in the early 1980's. He's one baaaad duuude!!

Great work once again! I love Jim's Dwarves! With their big heads,

and toothy snarling mouths...exactly as how I have always envisioned them (with his help!)

I still can't believe that is a dwarf. It looks like a Germanic / Russian halfling. Dwarfs have beards.

Is it just me, or has artwork that shows elves and dwarves (like above)fighting been few and far between in the past decade or so? It seems over the past, maybe 20 years, it's been passe' to depict the the tense relationship between dwarves and elves because it was so prevalent in the developing years of fantasy RPGs.

Great to see this piece.

Just shows, in my opinion, why I like b/w so much better than color.

That's a good point, too, Tree. I feel the same way. I started playing witht eh Mentzer box sets, and the art in those books really god my imaginative juices flowing. Whenever I see good black-and-white fantasy pieces, it takes me back to the mid 80 and those box sets.

Damn, that's nice work. What the heck is Jim Holloway doing with all of this new artowrk? Is he selling it to game companies or just building his already extensive portfolio?

He's doing alot of new stuff for an artbook which will be released some day - date unknown at this point. Probably will do at least a couple - one covering his earlier years - TSR, MERP, BATTLETECH, Paranoia et al. and a second with all the new stuff.

I'm sure some of them will also be available as prints!

Damn, that's some sweet stuff.

What's he up to these days, Deo? Is he under contract for any work with anyone at the current time? I'd love to see some more of his stuff. A lot of his work brings me back to the 2e days. An art book would be awesome, by the way.

Sorry, missed your last inquiry. No, he's not under any contract - he's a totally 100% freelancer. Yee-ha!!

John actually keeps him at the bottom of a well in his cellar. Mainly, Jim spends the day putting lotion on his skin or he gets the hose again.
