I have the Black Tooth Ridge A series. Those maps have Botkinberg and Ludenshiem about 45 miles apart. The big map of the Cradle of the World has one inch for 24 miles. That would place them 4-5 miles apart.
Anyone know what it should be? I suppose I could change my scale.
Anyone who has run the A series; what seems best as a distance between the two? 45 miles or 4.5 miles?
Thanks,
Map Scale

Re: Map Scale
I'm running the A series now. We left off with the party arriving in Botkinburg from Malforten after finishing up A0: Rising Knight. I'm just getting into A1 - A4 myself now to have all of them ready as a sandbox for when we next game (hopefully in a couple weeks at most).
As I am shoehorning the region into Greyhawk's "borderlands" area between the Principality of Ulek and The Pomarj, substituting the Jewel River and its similar bend to that of the Hruesen in the A series, I have to do some leg work to measure up the distances involved. Of course, being a magical world (Airhde or Oerth), it could very well be that the region is bigger on the inside than on the outside (i.e., like an outdoor T.A.R.D.I.S.). That's up to you as CK, of course.
At any rate, I hope to work on this on Sunday, so if/when I get around to drilling down and figuring out what is where and how far apart, I will report here accordingly.

Re: Map Scale
I'd go with the module scale, the big map is pretty much all about relativity to me. Meaning where is which location in comparison to the rest of the world? I've realized a long time ago to not expect consistency from Trolls, especially with regards to differing maps actually matching up, so I do my best to create my own.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Re: Map Scale
That's what I am doing, Tree. Of course, I'm fitting it to a different world, so I don't have the "maps don't line up" issue in the same way. I do have it, though, but that's of my own making.Treebore wrote:I'd go with the module scale, the big map is pretty much all about relativity to me. (I didn't get to this until this weekend, thanks to our 8 month old and 11 year old boys keeping us busy!)
