The Dark Ones

Post by ssfsx17 »

Those of you who were in my old Kikrostothil campaign will recognize these.

Comments are welcome - these were originally written for a custom campaign, so do tell if anything is unclear about these monsters.

BONECRUNCHER

NO. ENCOUNTERED: 6-20
SIZE: Small
HD: 4 (d12)
MOVE: 40 ft.
AC: 16
ATTACKS: Bite (1d6+1), Charge (1d12+1)
SPECIAL: Demonic Regeneration, Grasping Bite, Leaping Charge
SAVES: P
INT: N/A
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Evil
TYPE: Extraplanar
TREASURE: N/A
XP: 100+4

Bonecrunchers are quadrupedal creatures whose heads appear to be tubes full of long and sharp teeth. They have no eyes, ears, or other body parts that one would expect, just the tubular mouth full of teeth. Their teeth are a mixture of human-style molars, razor-sharp sharkteeth, long pointy fangs, and other kinds of teeth. Holding the "mouth" open will reveal that the teeth are also constantly shifting around in random paths. These creatures constantly make a loud noise like the sound of bones being broken and crushed.

Bonecrunchers usually attack in packs. They will try to pile onto a single target, then drag that target away to a safe place and feed on it.

Demonic Regeneration: Even when their hit points are reduced to zero, they still squirm around and make noises. While in such a state, they regenerate one hit point per day until they get to at least one hit point above zero again. Chopping them in half, burning them, and washing them with holy water are all effective means of keeping them dead.

Grasping Bite:
- Attack at a +2 bonus
- The target must make a Strength save (CL 4) or be grasped
- The Bonecruncher automatically hits the target every round until the target makes its Strength save

Leaping Charge:
- Move 60 feet, then attack at a +2 bonus for 1d12+1 damage.

WALKING BEDFRAME MAN

NO. ENCOUNTERED: 1-4
SIZE: Large
HD: 8 (d12)
MOVE: 20 ft. (walk), 40 ft. (charge)
AC: 20
ATTACKS: Kick (1d6+1), Bite (1d4+1)
SPECIAL: Poison, Knock Over, Impale
SAVES: P
INT: N/A
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Evil
TYPE: Extraplanar
TREASURE: N/A
XP: 625+8

This thing looks like a rectangle of steel poles, with a steel "leg" pole extending from each corner. A humanoid hangs in the center by its neck, with barbed wire and chains. The humanoid strongly resembles a human man, except, stripped naked and mutilated. It looks at you with a blank stare and constantly makes a sound like someone drowning or getting a razor stuck in his throat.

Poison:
- On every bite
- CON save
- on failure, effect is similar to sleep

Knock Over:
- Roll to hit normally
- STR save (CL 8) negates
- 1 damage, knocked prone

Impale:
- Can only be tried on prone targets
- DEX save (CL 8) negates
- 2d6+1 damage

BLEEDING STATUE

NO. ENCOUNTERED: 1-4
SIZE: Large
HD: 10 (d12)
MOVE: 5 ft. (slide), 100 ft. (teleportation)
AC: 24 (-2 versus blunt weapons)
ATTACKS: Slam (2d6)
SPECIAL: Made of Unnatural Stone, Gaze, Scream
SAVES: M
INT: N/A
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Evil
TYPE: Extraplanar
TREASURE: N/A
XP: 1800+10

It is a statue of a robed woman, which might well be any ordinary statue representing a goddess. However, it is constantly bleeding from the eyes, ears, nose and mouth, and you can smell the blood from where you stand.

If it is encountered in groups or in combination with other evil extraplanars, then it will try to teleport so as to box in the party and thus keep them constantly under the effects of either gazing or screaming.

Made of Unnatural Stone:
- Takes half damage from cutting & piercing weapons

Gaze:
- CHA save (CL 10)
- paralyzed for 1d4 rounds
- new save each round

Scream:
- To all living creatures who can hear
- CON save (CL 10)
- instantly lose whatever was in your guts, through one end or the other
- 1d4 damage

BLADED THING

NO. ENCOUNTERED: 1-4
SIZE: Medium
HD: 5 (d12) (+2 to hit)
MOVE: 20 ft.
AC: 19
ATTACKS: Bite (1d4+2), Slam (1d6+2), Throw Dagger (1d4+2)
SPECIAL: Barbed Chain (1d12+2)
SAVES: P
INT: N/A
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Evil
TYPE: Extraplanar
TREASURE: N/A
XP: 120+5

It looks like a human, except for the following:
- Its teeth are short razors, like from a hobby-knife or a tiny boxcutter
- It has multiple daggers stuck in each eye
- It has at least ten swords stuck down its throat
- Its feet are made of knives stuck together
- Its hands are made of scissors and shears bent out of shape and its body is covered in barbed chains.
- The crotch has been replaced by a poleaxe head.
- It constantly makes a loud sound like a buzzsaw, or like a chainsaw cutting through flesh.

It attacks by trying to bite, by pulling daggers out of its eyes and throwing them, or by whipping with its barbed chains.

Barbed Chain:
- Roll to hit normally
- DEX save (CL 5) negates
- Make STR save (CL 5) every round to get free
- 1d12+2 damage every round while stuck

This one is shamelessly inspired by Silent Hill

FEMINOID

NO. ENCOUNTERED: 4-12
SIZE: Medium
HD: 5 (d8)
MOVE: 30 ft.
AC: 16
ATTACKS: Dagger (1d4+1) or other one-handed weapon
SPECIAL: Diseased Kiss, Drain Warmth, Playing Dead
SAVES: P
INT: N/A
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Evil
TYPE: Extraplanar
TREASURE: N/A
XP: 240+5

These creatures look like humanoid women, except their faces have been rearranged in very wrong ways: the eyes may be on their cheeks, or their mouths may be swapped with their noses, or their faces may be replaced by a mess of scars and burn marks.

Feminoids that are rolled with low hit points may be described as having cut marks on their stomachs, or severe lacerations on their upper thighs and groin, or other horrific injuries. This does not affect their performance in battle.

Random Indicator of Their Existence (1d6):
1. Loud and heavy breathing, like someone hyperventilating, very audible from a distance
2. A soft sound of crying and of blood dripping onto the ground, may be accompanied by random bloody footprints or bloody tracks appearing within a thousand feet.
3. All venereal diseases within ten kilometers are suddenly aggravated to the point of bleeding, and in severe cases, causing hit point damage.
4. Tinnitus, accompanied by the sound of someone screaming extremely loudly in pain
5. The sound of someone constantly vomiting loudly and spraying it all over the floor and walls
6. Drains, sinks, and grates suddenly start growing blood vessels that grow long, branch out in many places, and leak blood.

Diseased Kiss:
- Transmitted through face-to-face contact
- STR save (CL 5)
- Lasts for 3d4 days
- 1 HP damage per day
- Counts as a disease

Drain Warmth:
- On any successful grapple, whether initiated by the feminoid or by the other combatant
- CON save (CL 5)
- The feminoid drains 2d4 hit points from the other combatant

Playing Dead: The feminoid, upon reaching zero hit points, will still thrash about aimlessly and make guttural noises. However, it may also choose to play dead. Once out of danger, it will take the form of a beautiful young woman who needs rescuing, and drain the warmth from anyone who comes to help in order to regain its hit points.

Very cool! Reminds me of some the creatures from the Silent Hill games, especially the Walking Bedframe Man.

Dude, these are sweet!

Bedframe mad reminded me of Cenobites from Hellraiser (that's a compliment!).
