Not a Module But:

Post by Bowbe »

Anyhoo, didn't know where to post this bit, so I decided to put it here first. Steve, Davis, or their minions will put it where it belongs or tell me where I can stick it im sure.

The News:

Just turned in the finished MS for the "Top Secret" project that Michael Proteau and I wrote about 15 minutes ago and since it's done I'm free to elaborate further.

The Black Libram of Nartarus

A Haunted Highlands Spell Supplement which is of course completely compatible with any Castle's & Crusades campaign.

The book contains 2 new character classes.

82 brand new spells (gotta love the C&C spell format)

4 Classic SRD spells re-cooked C&C style

18 Dweomers for a different style of magic.

Rules on this new style of spell casting open to any spell-casting class

So for the people keeping score thats 100 actual brand new spells...

7 unique new magic items and 2 relics.

All of them completely evil and purely rotten to the core... just like Ol' Nartarus himself.

This stuff was designed with the implicit purpose of hitting your PCs in the head with an iron bound mace and making them cry "Mommie".

Although the majority of this book and concepts were drafted by Michael and Myself, I had some awesome submissions by Patrick Lawinger and Taco John!

I don't know what the page count will be. Thats up to layout. The suggested retail price or all that whoo hah. Shouldn't be much more than the standard 24 page fare so likely priced accordingly. Don't know when this will be out either

Uh...WOW!
I think I hate you now as I'm sure the release of this will be a ways off and I now CAN'T WAIT!
Seriously...that's uber cool news!

Freakin' AWESOME, indeed! This is like the best news in a while. This is some thing that I thought the C&C game would do well with, but now that the supplement has a definte HH feel to it, it makes such a project all the more worth wild.

Very freakin' nice!

And a seperate thought... I know this is product is a HH product, but is there expected to be some "HH-specific fluff" in this project? What I mean, is there to be little bits of history, stories, ect. regarding the Haunted Highlands within, or is this to focus explicitly on "mechanical" things only?

Just wonderin'?

I've been thinking that a "Tome of Magic" book for C&C would kick a**e. Now we're getting such a book (sooner or later).

Agreed wholeheartedly. But with comments like this:

... this leads me to believe that this supplement would be more along the lines of a "Book of Vile Darkness" if you will. Mean and nasty spells from a mean an nasty person, like this Nartarus fellow.

Correct. Vile nasty spells related to Nartarus, Soagoth, Riachee, Kharzarn the Cruel, Kulashedrac, Jokashka and so on. There is definitely some purple flavor text, though I purposefully kept a lot of that vague so as to be of some use and merit for people playing say: Zagyg or Winter Dark as their campaign or of course one of those classic "un-nameable due to IP" campaign settings that alot of us grew up with.

That is some great information, Bowbe... now I have the rediculous desire to find out who these ultra-heinous, possibly wicked magicians are! Damn you. Time for another supplement on these people.

Sounds great! It's an immediate buy as far as I'm concerned. 8)

Will it include the 4 new spells offered in the DB2 adventure module?

Nice, especially since I am going to be adding HH to my Yggsburgh campaign. Can't wait to make my players cry with this!

New Means NEW!

Post by Bowbe »

Methathiax--

Totally new! Why charge you for the same stuff twice? Although that sort of thing is occassionally required like with a recurring monster, villian or something like that... this stuff is all fresh grade A woop ass. 100 brand spanking new spells. (save for the 4 srd conversions which makes the total spell count 104).

I'm talking new wizard spells, new cleric spells, new druid spells, illusions, and spells that platform across class to include the two new character classes. Many of the dweomers platform even further, to be usable by any spell casting class should that character be truely wicked enough to channel power that these dweomers offer.

The reason why I asked might be personal greed... I would also like to get those spells but I don't intend to buy the module in the near future since it simply wouldn't fit my current campaign.

Too bad I didn't know, or I'd have offered some help (not that you need it, of course -- have some critters and spells that seem to fit the concept very well.) Sounds like someone may have made a book of villainy that's actually useful and not the crap that was Book of Mostly-Lit Darkness. I look forward to seeing more.
