Lestrade comes to visit Holmes and presents this case and asks for his help. Holmes in turn asks the party if they would attempt to solve the crime.

Case #1

The Adventure of the Unholy Man

A strange preacher has come to town, a large Moroccan-bound bible under his arm.
Scotland Yard is puzzled when the preacher is found stabbed to death in his balcony seat at the Playhouse during a performance of Hamlet.

Duchess Tallcourt, who accompanied the victim to the Playhouse, discovered the body upon returning from the powder room after intermission. The preacher’s bible was gone; and on the floor nearby were a German-made cigarette and a packet of aspirin.

It was common knowledge that the Duchess, previously a benefactor of the Bishop of Whittenfroth, had come to support the new preacher’s views. This greatly angered the Bishop and Duke Tallcourt.

The Longworth Acting Troupe was performing the play, Earl Longworth in the lead.
Longworth, a rascally cad, had been wooing the Duchess’ daughter, Anastasia, in hopes of gaining support for his poverty-stricken troupe.

Scotland Yard wants to know a) who killed the preacher, b) the weapon and c) the motive.

The game is afoot!

I won't be able to play tonight after all. Tomorrow is my wife's B-day, and I have to make my home made Salsa for tomorrow as well as prep three other dishes I am making for her Birthday, since we are doing the "party" at Noon tomorrow. If we had agreed to do it in the evening, I'd have the time to play, but our oldest Son and his fiance can only do Noon time with us tomorrow.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I just realized that I haven't done any prep for the game tonight, nor do I really feel like running it.

Sorry for the short notice!

It actually works for me. We are supposed to go out shopping, but my wife is having a hard time getting "up to" going, so its looking like, if we do go, we'd start out late, so I'd end up late to the game. So I would have only made it on time if she just gives up and we don't go at all.

Session V . . 221B Baker Street boardgame.

I thought it went well and I enjoyed hosting it.

I hope you guys had fun as well.

And then . . playtesting coach chase/combat.

Again, I thought it was fun and I hope y'all did too ~ even if we did have loads of questions.

And thanks to Aergraith for summarizing them and posting to the V forum.

Mike and Trav have addressed them . . I haven't had the chance to digest their answers and comment yet.

So, lemeno if you guys wish to retry the coach chase or move on. I'm happy to retry or move around the world.

Thanks.

Rhu. :D

London, 1888.

Watson receives a telegram sent from Alexandria, Egypt from an old chum who he served with in the army*.

The friend continued in service to her Majesty and fought in the Anglo-Egyptian war of 1882 and stayed in that country helping to protect British interests there.

He tells Watson in the message that he has found a major section of the Great Library from ancient times and wishes that he would come to Egypt at once.

Watson telegraphs back and receives no word. Several weeks have passed and he decides to go and find his friend.

Will the party accompany Dr. Watson on his journey?

Orient Express to Constantinople, then boat down to Alexandria.

*He joined British forces in India with the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers before being attached to the 66th (Berkshire) Regiment of Foot, saw service in the Second Anglo-Afghan War, was wounded at the Battle of Maiwand (July 1880) by a Jezail bullet.

[Aside . . Howard Carter would be in Luxor 3 years later at 17 doing excavations]

I am in Vegas with 2 of my 3 kids. (Its a bit of a surprise to me, I didn't even know I was going to be here until day before yesterday.) Anyways, they are SUPPOSED to be going to eat at a restaurant tonight, that I am NOT going to go to (too expensive), so I SHOULD, finally, make a game session tonight. If I don't show, its likely because whatever we end up doing prior to their going to dinner is taking up my/our time. However, if we stick to plans, not a strong suite with my family, I should finally make a game session tonight.

Aergraith just got home exhausted from work. He asked me to let you know he won't be able to play tonight. I predict he will be asleep in about 30 seconds. Sorry about the late notice. Looking forward to resuming next week ... *fingers crossed*

That works out just fine for me. The kids talked me into staying at Pampa's, then I had 5 Mojito's and a couple of other drinks. So I am pretty toasted right now.

I hope we are all in better shape next week. Not that I am complaining about how I am feeling right now. Pain free is a very good thing.
