Reads to me like you have an awesome GM!
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Yeah, great GM wit great rules; plus a great write-up as an example that the game does not have to be the same time line.

Re: Canonical Victorious?
I had problems with "canon" ever since I had players telling me I was "doing it wrong" when I was using Faerun/Forgotten Realms as my campaign world framework. I then started with a world I made from scratch that I called Cascandia. Then I solidified it with my experience running Aces and Eights. I had players in my very first game looking up where gold and silver was found on line, then trying to use that to find the deposits in game. Since then not only do I change up what is "canon", I even change where resources are found from any sources that are canon. Then I ran into it again when I was running Legend of the 5 Rings. They told me how I wasn't following "Canon" at all, and argued with me so strongly about it I cancelled the game right then and there. So I have had a fair amount of experience altering the "canon" of settings, precisely because I HATE having players who use the "canon" against me. Even when, especially when, they knew I did not use Canon, except in the loosest manner.Lurker wrote:It sounds familiar, but I can't put my finger on it ... hum a few bars and see if I can place itTreebore wrote:DMMike wrote:Here's the latest site post on the Victorious page, this time considering the idea of a canonical game world:
