"Pulp: Hard-boiled detectives, fedora-wearing action heroes, and steampunk gadgeteers rocketing to battle with their jet packs against bloodthirsty Thule cultists of the Third Reich."
That's when all Hell broke loose. The back window shattered, there was a distinct "ZING!" sound, and the front window followed suit. Kate let out a yelp and jerked the wheel, sending us into a fishtail. I grabbed the door frame and held on for dear life while drawing my Colt 1911. I looked over my shoulder, and sure enough there was that pink Model T. I couldn't see if Frenchie was behind the wheel; too much sun glare off the windows. But two goons leaned out. At first I assumed they just had pistols. I leaned out the window to draw a bead, and that's when the one goon opened up with a bloody fire-spewing hand-cannon.
I ducked back into the car. "Great," I muttered. "Just my luck. The SOB's got a Tommy Gun."
Kate snorted. "Look at the bright side. He can't aim very well on full auto."
"That's a bright side?"
Another long burst of fire went wild into the air. Tires squealed as cars bootlegged around us, and the screams of bystanders rang out.
Kate jerked the wheel left, down a narrow alley, just as I pulled up to lean out again. I nearly toppled head-first out the window into a wall. My fedora flew off my head.
This was definitely turning into a bad day.
"Geez, Doll, watch it!" I said, and squeezed off a couple shots as the goon with the Thompson tried to reload. He ducked back into the car while his buddy returned fire.

This was posted on the facebook page by Jason today: We wrapped up playtest on Amazing Adventures (Pulp Siege) yesterday. I plan to do some cleanup on the manuscript this weekend, and have it to you and Christina by Sunday night!
Re: On the Anvil: TLG 7601 Amazing Adventures (Pulp Siege)
I would've responded to this thread way sooner...but I recently had to re-install Firefox, and ended up with an old version of my bookmarks toolbar. Short version: I'm a complete idiot and have been watching the OLD forums. Sigh.
Anyway, I put up a new thread down in the SIEGE engine games forum. I turned in the final manuscript.

Re: On the Anvil: TLG 7601 Amazing Adventures (Pulp Siege)
Should be fun and interesting. I've got an idea for merging this with a few other things... namely dinosaurs.
Re: On the Anvil: TLG 7601 Amazing Adventures (Pulp Siege)
Looking forward to this. I have to admit though that I am sold on Savage Worlds for Pulp so far, but want to give this a serious go; Siege allows fast narrative style play, which usually equates to the same speed, playability, etc of SW (at least in my experience). I can't remember if I saw it anywhere else, but is there a Sanity mechanic similar to Call of Cthulhu for those that want to play Things Man Wasn't Meant to Know? You could run a pulp horror dealio with that.
Re: On the Anvil: TLG 7601 Amazing Adventures (Pulp Siege)
I'm a Savage Worlds pulp man as well, but I'm also a TLG fan. I've got room for two pulp systems. Incidentally, if you're looking for an extra pulp resource, I highly recommend Pulp Hero from Hero Games. Other than the statted material, there's loads of good stuff for use in any system. Probably one of the best books from HG.
Re: On the Anvil: TLG 7601 Amazing Adventures (Pulp Siege)
Really looking forward to this - any news on when it might be available?
Also, are there any plans for the quickstart that was originally mentioned for Free RPG day?
Cheers

Gang, I've been the cause of the dealy on this book. I'm back to editing it (while working on several things in the hopper), though it will take me a few weeks to get through everything.
Jason has done a very nice job on this! I think you'll all approve.
So bear with me! Thanks.

Thanks for the update. We can wait for perfection as long as we know some one's doing their best!Christina Stiles wrote:Gang, I've been the cause of the dealy on this book. WooHoo!!!
Pulp is back on the radar!!!
Hope that the delay wasn't caused by anything too traumatic and glad to see this baby moving towards release.
Cheers for the update

(P.S. any chance we could persuade someone to sneak peak some piccies/ illustrations? Just would love to see the style in the book!)

Re: On the Anvil: TLG 7601 Amazing Adventures (Pulp Siege)
Lots of life and health issues and old projects that have taken longer than I ever expected (be on the lookout for Rogue Mage!) have been the reason for the delay on my part. I'm working my way slowly through the book. I've already apologized to Jason for taking so long on this!Grey wrote:WooHoo!!!Pulp is back on the radar!!!

I'll see if Steve is interested in putting one of the new classes into layout or something for a sneak peek. I'm not sure if Peter has done any artwork for it or not. Let me ping the Troll Lord and see if I can get a response--that's sort of like Contacting another Plane.

Thanks for this, any little sneak peaks to keep the appetite whetted would be GREAT, as I have been looking forward to this game for ages....I'll see if Steve is interested in putting one of the new classes into layout or something for a sneak peek. I'll post some class names on Friday. Let me know which one interests you the most, Grey, and I'll forward that to the Troll Lord for a sneak peek.

When we're talking pulp, how soon we forget Jungle Man and/or Jungle Woman as classes/types.
Then there's Superhero and Mystery Man, so we can distinguish Doc Savage or the Avenger from the Shadow or the Spider. (Admittedly, the Avenger borderlines both classes, with his ONE power of having Plastic Man's face. Or maybe he has the power to change his body structure and voice too, because he always gets away with his disguises!)

Re: On the Anvil: TLG 7601 Amazing Adventures (Pulp Siege)
I was dismissive of socialite at first glance and then I thought of Nick (gumshoe) and Nora (socialite) Charles from the "Thin Man" series. Great stuff.Grey wrote:All of them, but socialite is the one me and wife want to see first....

I could see how socialite (or maybe a playboy, for a male) might be fun to play.
