It's not hardcover?

It is a Soft cover! Steve announced it would be so several weeks back, but no one updated the entry on the TLG website.

The problem is, I thought I remembered Steve making that announcement, but wasn't sure....so I double-checked the product page and ....it said hardcover. I would have ordered it either way, though, but I was initially disappointed that it wasn't hardcover. I am hopeful that it will see a hardcover printing eventually though.

The hardcover was just not in the offing on this book. Not now at least. Basically the cost of printing this puppy in hardcover would be about 30% of buying the machine to make our own hardcovers, something we are looking to in the very near future.

I will bop Brian on the head about the webpage though, I thought that had been changed a long time ago.

No worries daddeo! The book is pure kickass. It's cool to hear that you guys may be expanding your printshop....I have my fingers crossed that very soon you will have your own badass hardcover/case binding machine dealio. Then I will demand hardcover character sheets. lol.

Wow. I missed the softcover announcement, too. Oh well. I'm not reselling these bad boys, so I'll have to break out my clear Contac Paper for this joker.

Yeah, the softcover didn't keep me from ordering it today. Still hoping for a HC version eventually though.

Agreed. I'll take a softcover over nothing. I just got to wait till the damn FLGS gets it in.

So let's say I don't play a game in the Erde setting ( I can't remmber how to spell it right)

is this still worth getting?

(say yes)

and is it mostly new monsters or classics from the older OD&D / 1ed / 2 ed books?

Do you put clear contact paper over the outside covers of your softbacks? Easy to do? Work well?

I believe the monsters are all original to Aihrde and the treasures are specific to the setting (according to what Steve has said), but it should be worth getting (still waiting on mine).

Sounds cool, Rigon.

From what I've heard, there's the 'normal' entry and an "in Ahirde" section for each that makes the campaign specific stuff a little separate.

Ok, I'm sold.

These are all new monsters. The Aihrde material is 90% removed from the main entry and set in its own section at the tail end of each entry. The only are that the Airhde stuff was hard to remove was the demon/devil section, but that material is all very CK subjective anyway.

Thanks!

Steve

This is a great, great book. And I run my games in Greyhawk. There are some good ol' stand-bys (camel, monkey... ferret), plus some much needed stuff (the aforementioned demons and devils). I especially the the 'Red Hats'. They are going to be appearing in Greyhawk pretty soon.
And I have to say, I really like Pete's art, but my favorite picture of his in in this book. Page 40, "The Mother" devil. Awesome.

My brother ordered this thing a couple of weeks ago...electronically two weeks ago from the TLG store....and he still hasn't gotten it. I told him he should have ordered by phone! He got an email that it would go out about the 4th, but has heard nothing and has not recieved it yet. Have others had the same experience from the online TLG store? I personally never used it. I have always called in my orders directly to Steve, and have always got my stuff pretty damn fast. I told Jared to call Steve and just ask him about his order. He is a little disappointed, as he is helping me write the Airhdian adventure for GenCon. That and because I pull the big brother "Ha, Ha, I have one and you don't!" routine on him. Heh.

I've always ordered via paypal and have never had a problem. But Steve is quick to fix things if he gets the phone call!

I used to dislike ordering from TLG on their on-line store. I always took awhile to get whatever I was ordering. Lately that has not been the case though. I got M&ToA within a week of ordering on-line. Been similar for other orders I have placed there recently.

I've been looking through this product alot over the past few days. Fargin Awesome.

I really hope they do Hardcover of this some day. I'd buy another for sure.

I got my copy from Amazon today. The new logo is awesome. The monsters kick ass and the treasures rock. Now all that being said, as I was flipping through the pages, one of them came out in my hand. A little disconcerting, to say the least.

It can be rebound, made stronger, faster, more lethal than ever. We have the technology.

I'd email Steve about it. He can probably send you some super glue.

Go online to Amazon.com. Locate the Return section of Amazon. Send back to Amazon. They will send you a new copy out immediately even before you send back the original.
