Got my Classic Monsters today!
Got my Classic Monsters today!
And it looks absolutely gorgeous. The cover is vibrant. The print quality is excellent, making the art really leap off the pages. Love the T-Shirt and the coins too. Kudos all around. Thanks so much for doing this. I can't wait to use some of these nasties in my game.

What does the t-shirt look like? I'm hoping it's black with the cover of Classic Monsters on the front.
Re: Got my Classic Monsters today!
Mine is all white with a picture of the Terrasque battle (from the Terrasque entry in the book) on the front. It says Castles & Crusades on top and Classic Monsters on the bottom. It looks awesome.

Re: Got my Classic Monsters today!
I didn't order one of the shirts, but was curious. With concert shirts and the like, I almost never buy white. Even though I don't get them dirty per se, it seems like they yellow with repeated washings. Enough of my boring laundry talk on this forum. Then again, I like the thought of black shirts with the covers of the corebooks, perhaps the C&C logo, better yet. The portrait style gm's screen art on a t-shirt. That one is so big, it would wrap around to the other side.

I don't think it's the washing that makes them yellow. I think it's the NOT washing.tylermo wrote:I didn't order one of the shirts, but was curious. But yeah, white is white. I have too much black so I was really pleased to see white. Black is just too predictable. Now I have my Red, Red Box shirt, my Black +20 shirt of smiting, my OD Green "Cloth AC 5" shirt, and my white C&C shirt. Perfect. I love wearing game shirts when I run games.

Without a shirt pocket for a Playmaxx Bee or Tom Kuhn yo-yo, there's no reason for t-shirts to live.

The original Bumble Bee axle, with brake pads, handles very much like wood. Try one, if you can find one.
Otherwise, the Tom Kuhn yos are the best available these days.

I've tried Bumble Bees and Spintastics and a few others but I always come back to my first yo-yo, the duncan imperial. Is it cheap? Sure. Can I split the atom with it? No way. But it does the job and fits the hand so nicely. And with practice you can still do some neat stuff with it. My back up is a no-jive which I also quite like and pull out every now and then.

Is that a one-piece No-Jive or the 3-in-1 No-Jive? Each has its particular fans. Bill Alton (of the Noble Disc) was particularly attracted to the 3-in-1, whereas I (and Bandalore) preferred the one-piece. It's still anyone's guess which is the better yo.mbeacom wrote:I've tried Bumble Bees and Spintastics and a few others but I always come back to my first yo-yo, the duncan imperial. Is it cheap? Re: Got my Classic Monsters today!
It's the 3in1. I've never used a one piece no jive. You say you like it better? Don't misunderstand me, I'm no connoisseur. I just like to yo and have had my hands on whatever I've come across. I don't seek it out or research them. I got my first imperial when I was 7 about 30 years ago. I still have it somewhere but I have a new gloss green one I really like. I've never liked the flared ones (like the butterfly I got for my birthday when I was 10) as I'm not a serious trickster (although i can do my share). I also don't like the ones with bearings and eternal spin whatever they have. I remember thinking how cool the yo-ball was when a friend of mine got one, then I tried it and that's probably when I decided that I don't like the crazy spinner stuff (or anything aluminum).MormonYoYoMan wrote:Is that a one-piece No-Jive or the 3-in-1 No-Jive? Re: Got my Classic Monsters today!
My Classics Illustrated Monsters arrived today (along with "Curse of the Khan," the Player's Handbook, and Mongsters & Treasures) and I've spent the entire afternoon and evening reading and looking at the pretty pictures. (Wow! That's some good art!) And trying to make sense out of the maps of U4. (See my belly-aching post elsewhere.)
Lotsa pretty coins too, and you're nuts if you think I'm gonna give any of 'em away for a paltry 10% off!
This, folks, is Real Good Stuff!

According to the most recent Kickstarter update:
"All the Classic Monsters have shipped, minus only a few boxes overseas. I will send personal emails out to those subscribers who did not include an address. For the big package subscribers we'll be uploading the links for further downloads this week. You'll receive an email from this site soon."
This is good news - I haven't gotten mine yet either but USPS from Little Rock, AR to Upstate, NY is about 3-4 days (unless they sent it parcel post). I hope to get it this week.

Hmm... I had assumed that it was the piece used for the cover of the Classic Monsters book which was going on the T-Shirt. The tarrasque pic is cool too though.mbeacom wrote:Mine is all white with a picture of the Terrasque battle (from the Terrasque entry in the book) on the front.
