Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

It's Drool-worthy.
Tiny quibble: any chance a pdf could be available that's under 50MB so I can export it to my Kindle fire? That would be killer diller.
But having skimmed it, I am VERY IMPRESSED with the book!

The Table of Contents is AWESOME!
The heavy use of Celtic and near Celtic language is certainly going to give this very heavy "flavor".
Edit: I am loving the histories.

Diolch yn fawr pawb un! I wanted to keep the use of the Celtic languages to a level that non-users can understand and yet not lose or sacrifice the distinctive Celtic idiom throughout, the only thing I didn't put in it was a pronunciation guide (maybe Second Edition someday?).
Re: The Codex Celtarum PDF is out for KS backers!
ooh, I was hoping for a pronunciation guide.
Could you post one here?
I too, LOVED the TOC. I love how the chapters make a paragraph. so cool.

Re: The Codex Celtarum PDF is out for KS backers!
I might try to make a pronunciation guide separately if the demand is high enough and definitely post it here for everyone. I used all six surviving Celtic languages of course throughout, since the lore and myths come from all, or my own additions to them were in those languages. I thought the Table of Contents idea was a sudden flash of genius since this is a book about faery-tales and myths and full of cleverness...

An easy way to get larger files to your kindle (with out direct connecting it) is get a drop box. Upload the PDF. Then E-mail a link to your own E-mail. Then check your E-mail on your kindle and download it.Relaxo wrote:It's Drool-worthy.

Re: The Codex Celtarum PDF is out for KS backers!
I downloaded the PDF and was surprised to find it really is another setting. It is also a good source book for new druid and illusionist spells. Very cool, but now the wizard, for the first time in D&D type history, is getting the short end of the stick on spell lists. Would have liked the cool Celt-flava to have been boiled down a just bit more to add spells to all of the lists.
A pronunciation guide would be cool too. I was very pleased to see the name of my gaming group in the credits. I love the "we know you guys" feel that C&C has. Troll-za!
I cant wait t get my hand on the hard cover!

If you haven't gotten your Kickstarter email about the PDF of the Codex, please shoot me an email, they should have all gone out a couple days ago. First check your spam, but if it isn't there, email me at tim@trolllord.com. Thanks!

Re: The Codex Celtarum PDF is out for KS backers!
Sorry to derail the thread here, but since I have been reading over Codex Celtarum, I fully throw my support behind Celticgamer. If you even pull off 50% of the detail, setting, and mood of Codex Germania as compared to Celtarum, it will be a staggering hit. No offense to Celtarum, but I love me some Germanic lore. I've been waiting for Codex Germania for like 7+ years when Steve first announced it. Now that I have seen what Celticgamer can do, I'm TOTALLY STOKED (do they even say that anymore?!) for Codex Germania. Totally. Like tingling and stuff.
Just sayin'.

Wow! Thanks a million, that is newyddon dda (good news) to me! And yes...the Viking and Germanic Codices will compare. In fact, I am fine tuning the Germanic codex more to add tons of goodies in there that I have always wanted myself in a setting that is derived from this culture. I use the Old Germanic languages carefully like I did the Celtic in the first, you could say the Anglo-Saxons are my 'Minor' in my Masters since they were the invasive peoples in 5th-6th century Post-Roman Celtic Britain, so I know my way around them all well too!Omote wrote:Sorry to derail the thread here, but since I have been reading over Codex Celtarum, I fully throw my support behind Celticgamer. I am SO looking forward to the Viking and Germanic Codices!!!
I play Arnbjorn, a cleric of Odin & Thor, in the current campaign so that Viking book is particularly interesting to me...

Hmm, regarding that Viking style Codex. I wonder if that would help me in my Eastmark/Yggsburgh games? That setting used what Gygax called the "Tenoric-Norse" faith.

The Viking Codex handles the Nordic beliefs and their mythological settings in the same way I did the Celtic with more it it, such as a few more character classes, etc.Omote wrote:Hmm, regarding that Viking style Codex. Re: The Codex Celtarum PDF is out for KS backers!
Hahaha! It is all a part of my master plan! The Codices just get better as the next one comes along too, and there are many in line too. Each similar to the Celtic in their own way but entirely unique to the certain culture it covers!
