New PHB6 (it's on the way)

Post by Omote »

I got my copy of PHB6 in the mail today. TLG posted that they started shipping these out last Friday, and again today.
This is a sharp book. I liked PHB5 look and style just fine, and now PHB6 is pretty dang good.

Here is some relevant talk from FACEBOOK today regarding PHB6
There is about the same number of pictures in the PHB as the previous printings, but the artwork is different in many instances. There are no full-color picture pages other than the one I posted. Overall the artwork did get a serious upgrade. This is a great looking book.
Pages are a light yellow color, with darker edges to look like worn paper.
The PHB6 is back to glossy interior paper.
189 pages front to back.
You can easily see the added information on things like encumbrance, expert items, 0-level characters (a brief note), re-arranged classes.
Headings and titles are much darker and distinct.
Equipment lists look huge now thanks to larger font. Some additions to equipment and details on head-shot AC.
No less than a dozen minor changes to spells and clarifications - probably more.
Illusionist magic section revisited and reexplained.

I guess digital delivery is happening later?

Does the glossy paper smell bad like (2nd? 3rd?) printing?

Smells like normal printed paper on gloss. Nothing like the old gloss paper. The smell is stronger than the normal flat printed page, but not by much. I do not think anybody will be offended by the smell of this paper/ink.

That means I should be getting a copy at some point. The fact the pages are gloss doesn't bother me. The pages themselves remind me of Savage Worlds Explorer's Edition in having the darker edges.

Is that brown ink for the text?

Why?

I hope it is easy to read.

Everything noted on the PHB thread was addressed. That's all I can say on that, as I only got a quick look at the PHB while in the process of editing M&T.

Omote will have more to say since he has his copy.

Oh for the love of humanity! Hurry up local postal carrier! I did not get mine yesterday. So I sit in a chair near the window, looking longingly in the distance, waiting...

It is dark brown text on a light yellow background. Why? I guess Trolls can only answer that. As for it being easy to read, it's the easiest to read TLG has put out to date; by a long-shot. Very easy on these eyes.

Just a guess but I'm assuming it's a design Decision to make it look like medieval sepia ink on parchment or vellum. thematic like. :-)

in this case, true black ink would be too dark.

but just a guess.

Hmmm.....

The only character who seems to have the PHB is this suspicious Omote fella.

No, the Trolls are "Arkies" and he lives in Ohio (where the Delaware-speaking natives hunt with long-knives). I think St James, Missouri is closer to the Troll bridge. I am closer as the crow flies, by car, train, aircraft and by USPS.

Something is afoot!

I know. Up the Ol' Miss and hang a right at the Ohio River. ;) They are being sent out by barge.

Maybe being sent out by name alphabetical order???

Ditto for me. Mine was on the doorstep when I got home. Looks a little like the mailman got into a fight with it though. Corners got pretty dented in. Very impressed with the look. Only had a little time to look through it but I must say it is sharp. Thank you Trolls and a toast to a book well done.

I came home today and there was a package waiting for me! I was so happy I ripped it open only to discover that it was NOT by PHB6. It was the Islands of Purple-Haunted Putrescence... good, but not quite as good as the PHB will be when it get here!

Mail carrier still hasn't delivered mail today. I'm still hopeful. At 111 degrees maybe they won't deliver anything heavy today...

Here I sit in my favorite gaming chair, sipping some fresh orange juice (out of the carton), having positioned myself in such a way as to be able to spot any postal carrier that may approach the mailbox. I wanted to make sure I could see in every direction so the delivery would not come as a surprise. So, I tipped the fountain the front yard over on its side and uprooted the hedge, It was blocking a possible angle of approach. Any extra moment between me and my PHB 6th printing, would be painful. I will not leave this chair until it arrives. I have a mason jar just in case nature calls. The sun has not come up yet, but when it does, I will be ready.

Snoring, Might have been easier to set up IR sensors around the house so you could make a bathroom run. Thing is that once you get the PHB6 the fever comes back as soon as you realize there is so much more to come.

This poses a problem. Curse you TLG! Take my money and ruin my bladder!

Where is my PHB 6th Printing?

There could be trouble in a small-town post office today.

Update....seen from the font window:
2 school busses passed by
1 meter reader stopped and wrote down a reading off water meter
1 small lap dog peed on flower pot and then moved on
1 bug on the window screen (get swatter after package arrives)

No postal carriers yet....

Postal carrier update:

The bug on the screen flew off.

I notice a lot of people walking up and down the street. I had no idea there were so many people walking up and down my street during the day. It would be nice if the postal carrier would walk up to my mailbox about now! With my PHB 6th Printing!

Oh, mason jars must be screwed down tighter if you accidentally lay them on their side (note to self).

Oooh... a mail jeep just drove by....dang it kept going.
