Another good KS for the Trolls. I know they have about a gazillion Kickstarters still waiting for fulfilment, but as a CK and a player that NEEDS IN HIS LIFE the latest and the greatest PHB, this sounds like a no-brainer for me. I gotz to have those tiny little bits of errata, and the new cover artist Jason Walton kicks some serious art booty.

I really want to back this, but I am hesitant. There are errata I (and others) have been pointing out since the 4th printing (or earlier) that still haven't been incorporated, and new ones that appear with each new printing. I find that ... frustrating. If I had some assurance that this time would be different, I would be more inclined to throw in a few bucks, but I feel like I'm already at the "fool me twice (or thrice, or ... )" stage.

It'd be nice to have a 7th printing to have the cleanest, most error-free text available, but I can't see myself buying yet another PHB unless it's a digest sized flip book with the latest PHB and M&T printings. I might get the PDF I suppose. That's not a criticism of the Trolls. I just don't need another PHB. The 6th printing is good enough for my purposes.

Good pricing - and I probably wouldn't go in, BUT will do for Jason Walton's cover! Excellent!

They have NOT addressed errata, only typoes. So I will not be backing this, or any future PHB KS, until they have a truly errata free printing. I have over 20 copies of ALL of the past printings, and I certainly do not need another until its finally errata free.

I do have to admit the 5 print + 5 PDF level is a great deal, though.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Tempting, but I'm going to pass. I have the 4th-6th printings as well as the latest flip book. I'd go in for the alternative cover if they would correct all the errors.

Typoes are typoes, errata is bad word usage, incorrect rules, or anything else that makes the book confusing.

MGTremaine, you can get that book now :
http://www.trolllord.com/tlgstore/#!/Ca ... y=13376128
It's a good one, especially at the add-on price. The only thing I don't like is the small maps (8" by 11", or a little less). I've had to use a magnifying glass to make sense of them, but my eyes are old so you might not have that problem.

As usual for me, these days, I'm on the fence. C&C is in my top three games of all time, and I love the idea of getting a new PHB with errata fixes. But some errata/typos keep getting missed...and it's a Kickstarter. I kind of wish they didn't go to KS with a new PHB printing. I can understand if they have to, though.

I'll probably do it, before the end. I just have to wrestle with it for a while! It's a great deal, for sure. I love Walton's art, so that's always a plus!

I am having serious doubts this is even going to reach the funding level. A very weak start.

If I am right, I suspect the "message" the Trolls should take from its failure, again, assuming I am correct, is that they need to take errata much, much more seriously.

Hmm, this kick just started I thought.

Still has just over 3 weeks ~ seems too early to throw in the towel.

I hope this succeeds. The price is one of best I've seen for any kick.

I'd be willing to help fund this, but there isn't a PDF-only option.
It would be cheaper for me to wait and pay for a full price PDF after release than it would be to spend $15 + postage now.

Of course I probably should have used the kickstarter anyway, considering I just bought $120s worth of PDfs which could have come at half the price through the kickstarter.

I have watched many KS's, like I said, this is off to a very weak start.

I'm not sure what the message is here. I suspect most players already have as many copies of the PHB as they need and aren't interested in buying a new one unless it is different in some significant way. One option would be additional errata fixes. My instinct isn't that people aren't willing to buy from TLG anymore due to errata; it's more a question of why get another copy of the PHB with a new cover?

I have to agree with Buttmonkey on this one. I'm thinking that C&C is reaching a saturation point where all the people who want to play it have it in some form or another. Other companies at this point would be busting out their computers and beginning work on a second edition, but TLG doesn't want another edition. So what do you think they should do to distinguish this copy of the PHB from the others that came before?

I think the message they should take is that Kickstarter is no way to run a business. They use it for everything, and have had some great success with it, but I'm worried they have to go this route to keep "The" core book in print. Seems like bad planning to me.

I have asked the leather copy be with cotton paper and black and white print... for this I would gladly pay extra AND help fund the printing.

I tend to worry kickstarter is your core players underwriting books for everyone.

I've bought my share of Core books. Some through Kickstarter, some through other avenues, but I'm not buying anymore. Especially not to just back a Kickstarter. If it was a new book, I might be tempted, but I'm ok with my 6th print book. Hell, I was ok with my 1st print book (despite all the flaws). I only switched to the 4th printing to get the newer barbarian and I only switched to the 6th print to get the fancy color pages. So, I've bought my share. I'm passing on this one.

And I don't doubt that the Trolls will do the new printing whether it funds or not. I think they use Kickstarter sort of as a safety blanket type thing.

Did the 6th print correct the awful browned out color of the 5th print?

Thanks.

I think so, but I've never seen a 5th printing to compare. The 6th print has a light tan colored page with dark brown lettering. It is fairly easy to read.

Oh sorry. I meant that much of the artwork images were so browned out that one could not tell what the image was. Really dark, shitbrown and bad.

So, my question is about the images. Are they recognizable?
