CKG "PUSH"

Does the combat action "PUSH" do damage? Normal weapon damage or do you make your attack roll with your weapon and use those skills to simply move the person back d10 feet and no damage (unless you're pushing them off a cliff?).

I think it does do damage, it's an attack and not merely a threatening posture. Though I would allow the attacker to try this without doing damage if he or she wanted to.

it kind of implied its an attack... that does d10 feet of push back... but sort of like its an attack and does d10 push back... so I would "guess" less than normal damage with a focus on the push back... possibly inversely proportional to the amount rolled on the push back? 10 feet back, min damage, 1 foot back, max damage.. just because well you never get to tell someone in CnC "Yep the damage is inversely proportional to the push back amount!" Not logical, but balanced, you trade actual damage for I would assume a location/tactical bonus.

As per the RAW, no damage is caused with a PUSH combat manuever. However, I could see normal punch damage being added in there as well. If the STR check is failed, the defender of the push attack is pushed back 1-10 feet. For me, 1d10 is rolled. 1-5 the defender is pushed back 5' (or 1 square). 6-10 the defender is pushed back 10 feet (or 2 squares). I also add in that if for every 3 the check is failed by, the defender is automatically pushed back another 5' The total PUSH attack cannot move an opponent farther back than the attackers unused normal movement for the round. So for example, if the attacker normally has 30' of movement, and the attacker moved 15' to attempt the PUSH, then the defender cannot be pushed farther than 15', which is equal to unused movement available to the attacker.

Yeah, the way I rule it is very complicated, but a life -or- death situation has come up in game on at least 2 occasions where a push was involved.
