Indeed. I think its a "best case scenario." If so, let us hope for a Trollmas miracle.

I'm finishing up with my last chapter and plan to turn it over on Wed. I know Tim is furiously working away at his remaining chapters. And, from what I understand, Peter is working like a madman with layout.

A 2010 CKG may just be this year's Christmas (uh, Trollmas) miracle.

But, if it's not, I hope everyone will still be happy with a 2011 January CKG!

Didn't forget it, just hadn't got to it.

On the seventh day of Trollmas the Trolls gave to me, seven Dwarven Glory, six Umbrage Sagas, Fiiivvvve Dr. Peppers!, four Fields of Battle, a bunch of Peter's art, two M&Ts, and a newly printed PHB.

On the eighth day of Trollmas the Trolls gave to me, eight maps of Airdhe, seven Dwarven Glory, six Umbrage Sagas, Fiiivvvve Dr. Peppers!, four Fields of Battle, a bunch of Peter's art, two M&Ts, and a newly printed PHB.

On the ninth day of Trollmas the Trolls gave to me, nine Tainted Lands, eight maps of Airdhe, seven Dwarven Glory, six Umbrage Sagas, Fiiiivvve Dr. Peppers!, four Fields of Battle, a bunch of Peter's art, two M&Ts, and a newly printed PHB.

On the tenth day of Trollmas the Trolls gave to me, ten Harvester books, nine Tainted Lands, eight maps of Airdhe, seven Dwarven Glory, six Umbrage Sagas, Fiiiiivvvve Dr. Peppers!, four Fields of Battle, a bunch of Peter's art, two M&Ts, and a newly printed PHB.

On the twelfth day of Trollmas the Trolls gave to me, a finished CKG!, eleven Harbinger Kits, ten Harvester books, nine Tainted Lands, eight maps of Airdhe, seven Dwarven Glory, six Umbrage Sagas, Fiiiiivvvvve Dr. Peppers!, four Fields of Battle, a bunch of Peter's art, two M&Ts, and a newly printed PHB!!!

(this is entirely the fault of the person who mentioned Trollmas! )

Ha. That song makes me think that TLG should become an official distribution agent for Dr. Pepper.

First off: Googleplex: Great Song!!! I am working on the 12 days of xmas sale right now and just copy/paste yours might make my day easier! haha

On the editing and final release of the CKG.

We are working at a fevered pace on this book. It may seem that we are rushing the editing part of the book, but let me give you an idea of what is happening.

First off, remember Peter, Mark, Tim Burns and I do this full time. We clock in every day at about 9 and clock out at 5...well peter from about 10 to 2 am. The CKG is what we are working on the most right now.

Peter is laying it out as he gets edited chapters, and working round the clock. He has set up templates for all the formatting so the work goes relatively fast, the only thing slowing it is the art he keeps doing for the book. But he has finished laying out chapters 1-11, completely. And has done text layout and formating (headers and the like) for the rest of the book, minus only chapter 15.

On the editing.

Tim has been a recent addition to the team. He's been working full time as our editor since early November, on the CKG mostly, but also Curse of the Khan, and Crusader 24 and something else that is escaping my twitching head.

Christina is editing the CKG a well.

So basically I spent the last 4 months writing and editing the submitted material. For the past 2 months Tim and Christina have been editing the chapters. Tim full time so it went a little faster on his end.

But that's not the end. We've employed a volunteer to go back over the edited/laid out chapters to look for problems. Once those edits are in the chapters will go back to Christina for a final look over.

As she finishes I'll look over the end game. And call it done or needs more work. It will be a testing procedure. I'll spot check paragraphs throughout the book. If I consistently find problems the editors missed then it will get another comb over.

If not? It gets printed. The good news is, because we own the printing facility. I can say. "Mark. Its done." And he can start printing the book immediately. The binding on this one is a little tricky so it will be slower than normal.

The plan....and there is many a slip between a cup and a lip...is to begin printing on the 20th. As Mark finishes them we'll bag them and ship them. I've kept a chronological order of who ordered the CKG when. Its first come, first serve. We hope to have all the pre-orders out before Christmas. I don't know if we will make it (the real hitch is the case wrapping covers, we are dependent on another company for that), but we're giving the Troll Lord (which is basically sitting around inebriated for about years and then spending a furious 5 months to finish a project).

But regardless of all the above. I want to be clear up front, that I say when we go to print, so if it goes to print and it proves that the editing was tight enough, then it is my fault and not the editors. And all complaints should be emailed to [email protected].

When you said you're printing the ckg I thought you meant everything but the covers. For a minute I thought you guys had gained that capability as well. I still have yet to pre-order. Maybe I'd better look into that before too long. Full steam ahead!

And I've just handed in C15, the last of the chapters awaiting layout and proofing. Thus the project most definitely nears completion in the Troll Den.

Wohoo!

Proofing is still going on for many chapters, but 15 was the last one Steve was waiting for from us editors. But, to all the naysayers, the book exists and it will see the light of day. That's just awesomeness galore.

Guess I better get my order in!
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.
