An old sketch
An old sketch
Inspired by some, I finally found the courage to post one of my older sketches. When I finish the one I'm working on now, I'll post it and then you guys can compare. I think my lines are a lot cleaner these days but anyways here it is one of my older sketches that I scanned from my pad...it's kind of a weird cyberpunk + fantasy thing I guess.

Other than proportions of her arms that is a very good drawing. Even with the over long upper arms (elbows reach her hip bones) and her left arm being noticeably shorter than her right (by about a 1/3) it is a H*ll of a lot better than anything I can do. The only reason I even noticed the arm lengths is because my wife and daughter have managed to teach me some things about drawing.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Here's another rendition of one of my classes in my campaign setting, a "Ghost Knight". It's a more recent one it looks like 2005. I haven't sketched since that time. But I'm thinking of writing a module so I've been looking at some illustrations.

I echo that sentiment!! Those are nice! May your fingers and imagination always meet in such harmony.

Thanks. I got a ton to learn about drawing methinks. Never taken a lesson before so things like anatomy come slower to me.
Well, I think you captured the gluteus very well!

That looks real good! I think your plenty good enough to draw for your own module.
Proportions are easy, once you start thinking about them. just look at people, notice where their elbows are in relation to their lower ribs. Look at where peoples hands "hang" in relation to their pelvis. Look at how long their legs are in relation to their torso length. That kind of stuff. You will see wide variations, but in art you want to use the "right" proportions, so go for the proportions you see on the most people.
Shading is the big killer, IMO.
Peter Bradley (Gideon Thorne) said that the Marvel Comics book on drawing was a very good book. He also named another book about anatomy, but I have forgotten the title and author (so Peter, would you please remind us?).
He also said they were good for catching "dynamic action" in your illustrations. My daughter understood, but that one kind of went over my head.
