Post characters here when made, etc....

Some Influential Organizations

The Arcanum: Metaphysicians and alchemists in a

hidden organization within the Collegium universities.

The Arcanum are almost unknown except to the

select, powerful individuals they advise.

The Evening March: A group of elite spies for the

Kingdom of Meath. Renowned for their skills at collecting

information and hiding in plain sight.

Gepetos Scops: Bards and musicians without peer,

the scops are part of the cultural fabric of Rullaea.

Paladins of Tellimod: The Grey Riders are the elite

noble calvary of Meath and knights of the Pentonite

Church.

Pentonite Monks: The Quel-Noron Order use shen

to defend the innocent and devout. The Pons-Noron

monks are healers and counselors, and are well-loved

by the people.

Pirates of Prody the Peg: These swashbuckling

rogues are the scourge of the Espirean Sea and the

subject of innumerable ballads and tales.

Sages of Tuirdroth: Reasearchers arcane and mundane,

they practice theurgy and philtrology in the

towers of the Sortilegium in Severness.

Sepis Gauntlet: Famous Cernnian mercenary company.

Many lords employ the Gauntlet to lend considerable

power to their forces for a handsome price.

Storm Wardens: Rangers from Severness that patrol

the Ice Forge mountains and battle the barbarous

Fosts. Boisterous drunkards, their rough existence has

contributed to their legendary lack of social skills.

Key or Uncommon Terms

The Collegium: The great universities of Rullaea,

housed at three campuses in Meath-Myrus, Ehrlyntir,

and Jalipir.

The Virtuous Pentad: Tenets of the primary religion

of Rullaea, called Pentonism: passion, integrity, loyalty,

temperance and prudence.

Economics

Rullaea is a thriving hub of feudal capitalism. National

currency is exchanged for goods and services in most kingdoms,

though barter (goods for goods) is still a major part

of the economic picture, especially in rural areas

Powerful Political Entities

Cernnia: A great hub for trade, commerce and the

old Merethi traditions; ruled by Olotrius Demneti.

High Kingdom of Meath: The greatest kingdom in

the Heart Realm. Ruled by King Malcorn Penrose the

Fifth, Meath is old, mighty and content.

Dorient: Often at odds with Meath, this kingdom is

known for its racial acceptance and strange contacts

to the north. King Hranmar Cluso rules here.

Ehrlyr: Recently won its independence from Meath.

Lucrid Dodenor ferociously protects its borders.

GoeLad: Trade is the lifeblood of this home of the

famous Under-River. King Mordren Greythorn loves

music, stout beer and anthropology.

Deluer: King Faundius the Block rules this ethnically

Merethi land and is constantly warring and scheming,

particularly against Ehrlyr, which he hates.

Severness: Strange and mystical, this kingdom ruled

by Lencou Silverhand is famous for the Sortilegium

of its sages, odd happenings, and its never-ending

border war with the Fosts to the north.

The Pentonite Church: The undisputed religion of

the Heart Realm also wields secular power that no

kingdom can ignore.

Fillable PDF character sheet. I don't know if it works.

A good 2 page rules reference sheet, it may be a good idea to have it as a "map" when we play, as well as to print it out and have it handy during play.

Premise to the start of the game:

Ceodric Trugyle, Duke of Trugyle died 10 years ago in a skirmish after what has become known as the Wars of Passion, and his eldest son, Morgad, assumed the throne at the age of 12 and under the guidance of Ceodrics most trusted advisor, Seneschal Pencivorn. Two months ago Morgad disappeared on a falconing hunt. The scheming and young Ceodell of Trugyle is widely believed to have murdered his brother. Matters grow worse, as assassins plot against the very king of Ehrlyr himself. Now you are involved, the only hope to discover the Butchers of Umbrion before it is too late.

Rullaean (human)

Fair-skinned, blond-haired blue-eyed

Family: Animal Trainer

Apprentice: Artist

Lower Middle Class

Caught committing a crime, spends time in a dungeon

Disposition: Practical

Morals: Honest

Motivations: Challenge/Excitement

Career: Gepeto's Scops

Drive: I want to have done everything that there is to do.

Jermaine of Horald was left inside a circus tent as a baby, with a slip of paper with his name written on it. The lion and tiger trainer took him in as his own son. One day, the fire-breathing and sword-eating woman wanted to really get the lion-and-tiger-trainer's attention, so she kidnapped Jermaine. She only did that for about two hours before returning him.

While Jermaine was 14, the circus got a gig as the halftime show for a tournament of knights that lasted for a season. Jermaine, the bearded girl, one of the trapeze artists, the two-headed teenage boy, and the backwards-aging girl decided to go have some fun one night. They snuck into a tent full of princes and princesses having a late-night feast, and Jermaine got to intimately know one of the princesses there. He was not smart enough to leave by the morning after and was thrown into the local dungeon.

A priest saw him in the dungeon and felt great pity on him. Thus, Jermaine was brought to a monastery where he worked for forgiveness by illuminating manuscripts all day long. He also had to do the inking and color-filling on a lot of book-drawings and scroll-paintings. This was how Jermaine learned to read, picked up a bit of theology, and a lot of other things. Upon turning 18, he was allowed to choose between staying at the monastery for life to become a brother, or go back into the world with nothing but his clothes.

He decided to head out, and made a living doing odd jobs. The best-paying jobs were usually as a scribe, or as a copyist of notices and posters. One day, while lounging around in a room that he co-rented with prostitutes and mercenaries, he was asked to sing a monk song. So, he recited one of the songs he often heard at the old monastery. A group of Gepeto's Scops just happened to be staying in the room next door, and they burst in and recruited him on the spot.

The pre gens are character sheets. I copied them and have uploaded the pics to Photobucket to a private account since they are copyright, post here if you want to look at the pre gens and I'll send you the PW via the PM system.

Here is a link to the Album:
http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj30 ... 20pregens/

Again, a password should be required, if it isn't asking for one let me know. Plus PM me to get the PW.

Thanks Treebore

I'll get the password from you Tuesday

I probably won't use a pregen, but for new games, it is handy to have one to work from and then adapt to suit

Aramis,

It has been brought to my attention that we were totally for getting about PDL (Per Difficulty Level) with regards to spells.

Lets use Cryonic Pulse for an example. If you roll ABOVE a 5 you get 1d10 for damage, if you roll 10 to 14 you get 2d10 for damage, if you roll 15 to 19 you get 3d10 for damage, if you get 20 to 24 you do 4d10 for damage, and so on.

(rolls of 1 to 5 are still a failure!)

So any time you see PDL for damage, duration, number of targets, etc... for every 5 points it steps it up, usually by 1.

Also, to recharge your QP's takes 1 hour per point, not 10 minutes. QP is equal to your Dominion skill + Essence attribute bonus.

So I think you see now your spell caster can be very potent.

Quintessence Points (QP): measures the characters

ability to use arcane variants. QP=Dominion

skill(quintessence) + ESS modifier. Calculate and record

under QP on page one of the log. All variant using

characters begin with a dominion level of at least 2,

and, thusly, 2 QP.

and so Aramis' character would be 3 QP, 2 for Dominion skill, +1 for his Essence.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Ahhh. OK, that makes more sense. I wonder how that works for things that do not scale as obviously (like the fulcrum spell)

So, if I make a good roll, it scales up, but does it scale up for free, or do I have to spend more points after the fact?

It scales up for free, its basically saying the better you roll the better you channeled and manipulated the energies.

As for the Fulcrum spell it increases duration by 1 HR PDL and 1 yd PDL.
