Cool. Not sure what the domains/portfolios etc each of those gods have. I'll refrain from picking a god until I know more about them, outside their alignment.

My suggestion, pick any god you want and I will align it with a core god for you. That way you have control over the portfolio/domain.

Do I roll for hit points or max for 1st level?

Do you allow clerics to convert spells to cure spells?

Can I select a domain from Omote's list or from the 3.5 PHB. If so, how many (1 or 2)? If no, let me know. Be good to specialized a little than just a 'healer'.

My PC's knee was shattered at a young age, effectively dropping his movement by 5ft/rnd. It is now at 25 ft.

Yeah.... I wouldn't want to have a meatshield in the group with those stats, either.

You mean you did not roll above an 8 for any of your scores? Damn.

Okay, if your cumulative attribute bonuses is less than +2 you can reroll the entire set. We will just assume you fighter died in a bar brawl.

I am purposefully trying to keep the game/characters gritty.

Yes. Thereafter, roll for hit points.
LordSeurek wrote: Do you allow clerics to convert spells to cure spells?
Normally, I would but not this game. If it becomes problematic, I will adjust the rules.

No domains. Never had them in my C&C games.

Sounds awesome.

If anyone has any backstory they want me to try to incorporate into the game, let me know. That is an area of play that I have always neglected/failed at. I am using this experiment to try focus on things I do not typically focus on... i.e. the actual roleplay element of the game.

Hmmm, I guess people will want me to be strictly a 'healer', only selecting cure spells or fend themselves when it come to gaining hit points back and I'll pick more select spells.

Don't like your decision as the ability to freely help the party with a dose of 'cure' is a boost, but your game hoss, I'll abide by the rules :)

So what is your plan if you turn into a badger? Remember to use scrolls while you have them. Hate for a scroll of elemental swarm to go without being used.

Don't worry, I won't let Kurt talk me into holding onto scrolls. And, hopefully, I won't be dying in this one. ;)

Hear is Obad-hai's dogma write up from Wikipedia:
Obad-Hai teaches that one should live in harmony with nature, and that those who would damage the natural balance deserve swift vengeance. Obad-Hai's faith is colder and less compassionate than Ehlonna's, preaching death in balance with life. When followers of the Shalm hunt, they target the weak and sickly first.

Also, can I start out with an animal companion?

Unfortunately we are at 6 players. While I have no objection to running a game with 6+, I would want the players input first on if they mind having a seven player.

On that note, the following persons have signed up to play: Rig., Dem., Arm., Tree., L.S., Scp., Aergraith. Am I missing anyone? Anyone dropping out?

Reminder: We start this coming Sunday. If you have a back story you want me to work into the story arc let me know. If you have any other last minute questions, let me know.

I will revisit the gods later tonight or tomorrow.

With playing in two games and now running one, I feel as though I am making up for my lack of play this summer. Woot!

Since I will be very spotty in my attendance, in all likelihood, they would make sure you consistently have 6 players.

Online games tend to get a bit "crowded" with too many players, since there is only one channel of communication. It's not like sitting around a table where you can have multiple things occupying various people at once.

However, the player roster in online games tends to be fairly fluid, especially at the beginning. So, it is probably best to take a wait and see approach until it is clear how many people are committed long term. Plus, these old school modules are supposedly designed for large parties ;)

Yeah, at one point, my game had 7 players in it. With 2 people having to leave the game after some time, I was happy to see it back down to 5, more manageable.

Its a tricky thing to manage though. If a couple of people cannot make a session for whatever reason, you could be down to 3-4. Being able to adjust material especially encounters, especially at high level (average critter in my game now is 13), makes for interesting sessions :)

6 solid players is a good number. If someone cannot make a session, it is usually not a big deal. If Tree is gonna be iffy, then haven't that 7th person may be a good thing.

The only thing I don't like about having 6+ players is each player having 'equal' time on the mic so to speak. I have played in games where 8 players were involved, and the CK was great. Made sure everyone had a share of the time, made sure nobody was left out of the action. I've played in games where only 3 were involved, and it was a total train wreck. One player 'hogged' the playing action, and then continued to butt in when myself or the other gamer tried to get our 2 cents worth in.

A lot of it comes down to the CK regardless of the numbers, to try and keep everyone engaged and interested, which I try to do in my games, which I am sure, after playing with Nate as CK in the past, he will.

Okay I was rereading through the rules to refresh me on the RAW. Never realized how much I altered the game with some of the house rules. Sections I want to make sure people read:

1. Casting time - p.53. If you want to cast a spell, you must announce at start of initiative. I don't need to know what spell, just that you are beginning to cast. Creatures will do the same if it is a spell.

2. Initiative - p. 128. Longer reach or larger creature will attack first if approached by small or less reach opponent.

3. Combat Actions - p. 129. Make sure you are versed in movement, cast, and attacking. I will be following 1/2 movement rules to attack. Also read the section on charging - p. 130, disengagement - p.132 , and flank and rear attack rules - p. 133.

All page numbers are from the 4th printing soft cover. I specifically mention those sections because I have either never used the rules or altered the rules. It is by no means an indication that other rules are less important. Just trying to give a heads up.
