New World of Airhde in 2011

Post by Piperdog »

I am looking forward to this. I am still geeked from the sneak peek at the world map in this last issue of the Crusader. It looks like it is fleshed out even more. 9 maps it says. Whoohoo! I love it.

So January of 2011? lol.

I think that TLG Steve and maybe even Pete Bradley mentioned that there was a new, big world map project(s) in the works some 12-18 months ago. Some of the work can be seen in the pages of C2 Shades of Mist, and the Umbrage Saga. Though, from both of these sources the scale is vastly different.

How so, O? Could you explain a bit, sir?

In C2 Shades of Mist, there is an very close-up, and detailed map of the Darkenfold. Where the scale there is 1 inch might equal 5 miles or so (can;t remember off hand). While the other new, zoomed-out map that is included in the Umbrage Saga box set (the best map produced to date IMO) was about 1 inch equals 100 miles (or something like that, as I do not have that map in fromt of me).

That being the case, these two maps are not part of the same map project.

Thanks, O.

Man, I am behind on my C&C....though I do have my MTA, so all is not lost.
I am curious as to the descriptions of these new places that appear on the maps! Good times await.

I can't wait for the new Codex. If it's half as good as the d20 Codex, it will be a winner.

And I have a good feeling that the C&C Codex of Aihrde will be better, by a lot!

Considering how much better they have gotten at simple organization and layout? Definitely.

This is the project I want to be working on.

Peter has laid out all nine maps and colored them, now it is up to me to go through and fill in the names, smaller areas of interest, towns, etc. Its a bit painstaking but rather fun. My only problem so far is that Peter tend to put rivers where they aren't and has mistaken some of my roads for rivers and rivers for roads.

As much as I look forward to the CKG, this is what I would rather have you working on as well! That, and the Gods and Monsters of Airhde book.

Yeah, the only reason I want the CKG out any more is so that it will quit detracting from work like this.

As long as it leaves room for individual CKs to plop in their own campaigns without having to redo the whole map.

I think Peter has the maps finished, Rhu. But not a bad suggestion.

I don't know about you guys, but I am geeked about this. Now with the CKG off of Steves back, I hope this gets some attention. Maps, maps, and more maps. Plus maps.

The maps would be nice. I hope TLG can get to them in early 2011 like advertised.

Well, it sounds like Pete has the maps done....minus some of the new locales being added by Steve. My take on it is that it will be a marriage between the old codex and the folio, with a lot more maps and sold areas expanded. As far as being out in 2011? With the CKG coming out soon, I feel like anything is possible!

I just bought the Codex of Erde for 5 bucks, new and still in shrinkwrap! It's a great book but one thing I would like to see for the next version are population figures for the cities and countries. I'd like to be able to compare each area with one another.

I really want to see this in the upcoming year. The Codex is awesome, but hard on the eyes and a not-so-intuitive layout. The Folio is excellent, because it gives you just enough to get started and create your own world. I am guilty of enoying both approaches. That being said, I would like to see the new codex map heavy, as well as future expansions. I would like to see the City of Ascalon, for one, and detailed close-ups of regional areas.

It would be cool to see a pdf map product that has hyperlinks throughout, where you click on a location and it brings you to a larger, detailed map. Anyway, looking forward to this release.

That info was not given so we could decide what they were based on what we each wanted/needed for our own games. Personally I like that. I also have come to appreciate that I also get to decide what the scale of travel is as well.

I hope that the new codex (and future Inzae products) has a dictionary style pronunciation guide; it would be cool to know I am not butchering the words. I find that in Airhde, and especially Inzae stuff, there are a surprising lack of vowels. The words look way cool because of it, but I am stupified as to how to pronounce them!

After the World of Ahirde maps were released earlier this year, I became pretty jazzed up to run some World of Aihrde. For years now I have been playing in Piperdog's GenCon games set within this setting. They are pretty awesome. The feel of the world really bleeds into the game. I'd like to see some updated, new world material myself. IN PARTICULAR THAT GODS & MONSTERS OF AIHRDE book. :)
