"Shadows over Aihrde"

Post by Arakor »

So I've started running a C&C game at home on alternate weekends.
Apart from character generation, we've had three sessions so far (various weekends got cancelled due to scheduling conflicts) and I've posted the session logs online.

You can find them on my C&C Society blog but also you can find them at our gaming group's website http://gaming.larter.org.uk.
Hope you all enjoy reading them.

That's great looking blog, with a ton of information to digest. Thank you for taking the time to put something like this together. I hope you don't mind if I mine these blogs for my own ideas... :)

Thanks Arakor!

Heheh, thank you for reading them.

I seem to have gravitated towards writing them in a Narrative style so that it sounds like a story rather than a list of bullet points.
The most recent blog (2012-05-13) was written today from memory without access to any of my notes - God, I love an eidetic memory sometimes but it really does suck for watching films and reading books.

Feel free to mine them for ideas. I've got a major story line arc in the making; the Big Bad will depend on which hook the players bite. On top of that, each character has their own story arc that will get woven in, courtesy of the Casting Central book.

Let me tell you, there was some real wacky rolls during that but each character definitely came out unique. I'll not post them here because I suspect that some of my players lurk on here but drop me a PM if you want the low-down.

I've only read through the first session report so far. The site takes a little bit of work to navigate, but I couldn't find the character sheets for the players on there. It seems like they should be considering all of the other info. ;)

Strangely enough, the character sheets aren't online yet.
Which site are you having trouble with? Mine or Ning?
If it's mine, it's a standard Drupal installation and the blog link is on the left hand side :?

Let's just say that my net-fu is not so strong. Your blog site is fine. I just got lost. :?: Everything's better now.

Hmmm ... just been trying to insert the output from iCharacter Sheet into Drupal and it really doesn't want to work.
Since there are a fair number of inline styles, Drupal just strips them out and it totally kecks up the sheet.

Guess I need to find another way to post these unless Kevin from Digital Adventures has any ideas?

I've pleaded with the guys at Digital Adventures to give us print and export functionality in iCharacter sheet (say, print and/or export to PDF, properly formatted and "nice" looking). They've expressed some serious technology limitations to make this happen, but I admit I won't be truly happy with iCharacter sheet until that happens. I've bought them (for desktop and iPad), but I don't use them because of this shortcoming. :(

Heheh ... it's funny you mention that because I've been rereading that thread.
I personally don't have any problem with the application and I use it with Dropbox and Box to keep my player's characters straight.

Looking at the DA website, they've got a list of priorities that they want to hit in 2012: http://digitaladventures.net/da2012.html
Import-Export features: Many of our customers have expressed and interest in being able to move their characters from one device to another, and rest assured that this is at the top of our enhancement list.
Now this is the one that would get me to splash out on a second-hand iPad and buy that version. The ability to update the characters on my PC, export them to file and then sync those files to the iPad before reading them in, would encourage me to use an iPad at the table rather than my Archos.
Printing Resources: We continue to look at the best ways for our iCS product to go from digital to paper form; however, there many challenges involved with this request. Our HTML export option is currently the only printing device we've been able to duplicate successfully on all three OS platforms. In 2012 we hope to expan this functionality, so stay tuned.
Hmmm ... looks interesting. Perhaps this will address the issue you've got, redwullf.

Because the Drupal engine totally ruins the HTML when you try to post the iCharacter Sheet in it, the reason for wondering if the DA guys had any ideas was so that they could let me know if there was a way to sterilise the HTML so that Drupal won't knacker it up (again).

Okay, I've uploaded the HTML files for the iCharacter Sheets and created a drupal entry with links to the pages.
You can find them here: http://gaming.larter.org.uk/content/cast

In other news, we were playing yesterday and this time, I've brought my notes with me.
Some point this week, a new session log should go up.
