TLG 81311 Codex Nordica

Post by Troll Lord »

Rule Book, Mythology
150 pages (estimated), Hardcover
$24.99 (estimated)
ISBN 978-1-936822-63-8

With One Eye Open
With iron grips they held their ships at sea. Face to the wind, back to the mist, they cut the water in their dragon prow ships, bringing the song of death and plunder upon the backs of gods that rose from the maelstrom of eternity. With axe and sword, shield and spear, they rose as if from the ether and opened the world to a storm of primeval lust.

The Codex Nordica plunges into the world of the Vikings, exploring their myths and cultures; from Odin's Ravens to the Jotun fortress of Gymirsheim. Brian Young explores the Nine Worlds of the northmen, it legends and myths, the magical creatures that peopled, the gods, heroes, giants and monsters.

All this is presented as a back drop to the game your already playing. Expanding upon the core of C&C material Codex Nordicarum brings a host of new wizardry and enchantments, gods for the characters, warriors and battle craft. On to of all this are new materials for the Castle Keeper, all designed to enhance rather than hinder play.

Codex Nordicarum brings the Viking myths to life at the table!

Random question for Brian: any info on Vili and Ve in the book? other than, they helped slay Ymir and wre odin's brohters who seem to have basically disappeared after that (or that little archeological mention of them remains).?

just thought it would be a handy and fun way to learn about them. If Odin in huge in Asgard and midgard, were Vili and Ve rulers in other realms?

Hi Stephen!
Go my Codex Nordica - thanks!

The kickstarter says this was to be a hardcover - has that changed? No biggie if it did, I am just curious

For the Thane ($49) level, the following additional swag was supposed to come but was missing
  1. * Digital copy of Codex Nordica
  1. * Exclusive adventure by Brian Young
  1. * Viking Long House from Fat Dragon Games
  1. * Poster of the World of Vikings
  1. * 3 Bonus Adventures *Stretch goal
  1. * Odin’s Runes *Stretch goal
  1. * Bonus PDF Adventure
  1. * Bonus Adventure from Brian Young
  1. * Alea iacta est -- we are adding a set of C&C dice made exclusively by Crystal Caste, one of the premier die makers! This will be for everyone at the $49 and above level.
Where are we on that?

Anyway - nicely done book - excellent work

The first 150 people who did the kickstarter got a freebie of the softcover, before all the rest of the goodies are sent out. I too was one of the lucky few! So all the stuff you listed, and you hardcover copy should be heading your way in a week or two (if I read Stephen's earlier posts somewhere correctly).

Oddly a whole body of lore involving Vili and Ve is missing but there are traces and hints in various fragments. If you look at the many later copied Norse sources there were hints that both brothers also ruled as kings in Asgard and even took Odin's place when he couldn't rule for a time.

I talked to Tim a few weeks ago and he said the PDF should be ready sometime around the 5/14 with the book to come shortly after that. Now, how hard those dates are is anyone's guess. But I would think the PDF should drop soon-ish.

Last word I remember reading, was Walsworth was set to deliver the print run in mid-June, after they finished with school yearbooks that had filled their print schedule.

Since it is almost July I figured I'd give this a *bump* to see where things stand for delivery of the book and assorted extra pledge level goodness. Thanks.

Since some folks are receiving the PHB from "The Sisters" kickstarter, which occurred after the Nordica kickstarter, I think I am understandably curious as to where things stand for delivery of the Nordica book and assorted extra pledge level goodness. What news, good Trolls?
