OH.MY.GOD.

Post by Julian Grimm »

My gaming group took a hit and we were looking for new players when someone suggested a new gaming store that had opened in my town. I was hesitant at first since it was mostly a card shop and geared more to magic players but finally had a 'what the hell' moment and decided to try it out. So Some friends of mine and I decided to go and give it a shot. Of course two dropped and I was wondering if I would have a group.

I barely got my stuff set down when two people asked what I was playing. I told them and the next question was, "Can we play." I started making characters and a third person joined in. We ran a bit and a couple had to leave and I was getting ready to go when they came back and three more joined in. By the end of the night I had about 8 people at the table in character gen and talking about the A-series and looking at my AWD folio.

We stayed until after close and when people started thinning out the common question was if we were playing next week. So next week at three I will be going back with what looks like the biggest group I have had in years. I'm hoping the game takes off and we get C&C into the store.

All in all a great night.

Awesome! Lightning strikes!
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.
Sounds obvious to me! -Gm Michael

Congrats! I have been contemplating doing the same thing in my neck of the tropical woods. We only have a few gaming stores in Hawaii and C&C has ZERO presence in any of them. It's all about Pathfinder/3.5/4e here as far as fantasy gaming goes.

I have never run or played a game in a store before, so that might be kind of weird, but I guess there is a first time for everything!

It can be done. TLG has gained two retailers in Southeast Missouri as the result of repeated demo games. An ongoing campaign of many months continues on at one store. It's a matter of luck, being in the right place at the right time, and finding folks who are open-minded.

Tylermo,

If you happen to find yourself around Lebanon let me know. That is where I am originally from and where the game is held. Just so you know, it looks like it will be a regular game on Wednesday night. The group overwhelmingly voted on running Aihrde and we are doing the A-series.

Great news, Julian! I love it when a plan comes together, but I love it more when what wasn't planned comes together.

In a few hours I will be back at the store and ready to run. With some time needed to finish PCs and explain the SIEGE Engine we should be running in an hour or so. (BTW I am using the 12/15/18 variation from the CKG since it has been easier for new players to understand) Hopefully we'll be off in Aihrde doing Corthian knows what.
